Adam Hunter gör sin debut i Streets of Rage från 1991 som en av de tre poliserna som lämnade stadens korrupta polisstyrka, för att personligen jaga syndikatledaren. Tillsammans med Axel Stone och Blaze Fielding lyckas han besegra syndikatledaren Mr X i sitt eget högkvarter. Adam använder en form av boxning med en stor mängd sparkar som läggs till i hans move-set, som mer liknar kickboxning än traditionell boxning. Adam uses a form of boxing with a large amount of kicks added into his move-set, more closely resembling kickboxing than actual traditional boxing.
