Harold Nash: Four Solo Pieces (Trombone/Piano)

Harold Nash (1931-2013) was a British trombonist, composer, and educator. He grew up in Wales, where his father conducted the Salvation Army band, before studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Sidney Langston, who he later replaced. After a brief period with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Thomas Beecham, he joined the Royal Opera at Covent Garden, where he remained for over forty years. Four Solo Pieces is suitable for trombonists of Grade 3 standard. Each individual movement would make the perfect item for a first performance or recital. For solo Trombone with Piano accompaniment.

He was the youngest ever Pipe Major in the British Army, the first Director of Army Bagpipe Music, and won countless piping competitions. J. Michael Diack: A Rosebud By My Early Walk Voice/Piano (Keys-c & D)

While Robert Burns is celebrated today for his body of poetry, the composer of Auld Lang Syne was also the composer or arranger of more than three hundred songs. A Rosebud by My Early Walk is set to the traditional tune The Shepherd’s Wife and it was a favourite of drawing room musicians for many years. According to at least one researcher, the ‘rosebud’ was the daughter of a family with whom Burns lived while recovering from a broken leg. The girl was just twelve years old, and, as a young musician, played Burns's songs to him on harpsichord. The sheet music includes a version in C and in D.

Rowley, A The Grand Old Duke Of York 2pt

The well-known English nursery rhyme, The Grand Old Duke of York is reinterpreted here by Alec Rowley for two treble Voices with Piano accompaniment. Like many popular nursery rhymes the origins of the song have been much debated and remain unclear. Often performed as an action song, audiences can be asked to ‘act out’ the rhyme by standing up, sitting down, and standing halfway up at the appropriate points in the verse, making it a fun experience for audiences and performers alike. Alec Rowley (13 March 1892 – 11 January 1958) was an English composer and writer on music. Apart from his frequent Piano recitals and broadcasts, he was widely known for his compositions for amateur forces.
