Effie is a three-dimensional action game in which we play the role of an adventurer cursed by a witch, fighting the evil that is taking over the fantastic land called Oblena. The developer of the title is the independent Spanish Inverge Studios. The team has completed numerous student projects and small games created during the so-called game jams. The inspiration was classic productions from the genre that appeared on PlayStation 2 , such as Jak & Daxter , Rayman 3 and Ratchet & Clank , as well as newer indie hits such as A Hat in Time , Abzu and Rime .
Story
The story told in Effie is extremely simple, but the creators added a large dose of humor to it. The action takes place in a standard fantasy world full of magic and extraordinary creatures. During the game, we visit the vast plain called Oblena, which is covered with blood-red grass and vegetation. Players take on the role of a young adventurer named Galand. He became a victim of a curse cast by a cunning witch who aged him by several dozen years . In order to regain his lost youth, he sets out on a journey, fighting on his way with the servants of evil and liberating the cities of Oblena from the control of black magic.
Gameplay
Effie's action was presented from the third person perspective. In the course of the game, players travel through a vast and open plain covered with various locations, such as cities and dungeons. In exploring the world, we are helped by a magic shield that acts as a levitating surfboard, on which we can move at high speed in the selected direction . The gameplay is varied with platform segments, as well as numerous logical puzzles. Various opponents also move around the levels we have visited. We fight them using our shield, the effectiveness of which increases with the time, number and type of defeated opponents . For people who love to comb through every smallest nook and cranny of the game world map, there are also prizes in the form of numerous collectibles.
