OEE for Operators Overall Equipment Effectiveness

The OEE Primer Understanding Overall Equipment Effectiveness Reliability and Maintainability

The OEE Primer Understanding Overall Equipment Effectiveness Reliability and Maintainability

A valuable tool for establishing and maintaining system reliability overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) has proven to be very effective in reducing unscheduled downtime for companies around the world. So much so that OEE is quickly becoming a requirement for improving quality and substantiating capacity in leading organizations as well as a required area of study for the ISO/TS 16949. Breaking down the methodology from a historical perspective The OEE Primer: Understanding Overall Equipment Effectiveness Reliability and Maintainability explores the overall effectiveness of machines and unveils novel methods that focus on design improvement—including hazard analysis rate of change of failure (ROCOF) analysis failure rate finite element analysis (FEA) and theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ). It covers loss of effectiveness new machinery electrical maintenance issues Weibull distribution measurement techniques and mechanical and electrical reliability. The book also: Discusses Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) not as tools to be used in specific tasks rather as a disciplineCovers the application of OEE as an overall improvement toolAssesses existing and new equipment from classical reliability and maintainability perspectives Includes downloadable resources with more than 100 pages of appendices and additional resources featuring statistical tables outlines case studies guidelines and standardsIntroducing the classical approach to improvement this book provides an understanding of exactly what OEE is and how it can be best applied to address capacity issues. Highlighting mechanical and electrical opportunities throughout the text includes many tables forms and examples that clearly illustrate and enhance the material presented. | The OEE Primer Understanding Overall Equipment Effectiveness Reliability and Maintainability

Grounding Electrical Distribution Systems

Grounding Electrical Distribution Systems

The first concern and the most important reason for proper grounding techniques are to protect people from the effects of ground-faults and lightning. Creating an effective ground-fault current path to assure the operation of overcurrent protective devices on solidly grounded systems and to limit the voltage-rise on equipment frames during fault condition is of paramount importance. The next concern is building and equipment protection. In this case providing low impedance bonding and grounding paths between the system source the electrical service and downstream equipment will serve to limit hazardous voltages due to faults and especially lightning A low resistance-to-ground system will serve to limit the voltage rise on systems and equipment. But of equal importance is the length of the grounding electrode conductor. It is critical to limit the length of this conductor due to the increased impedance of lightning currents. And finally a properly installed grounding system will minimize the effects of electrical noise on sensitive circuits and stabilize the voltage-to-ground during normal operation. This volume has extensive information on grounding electrical systems and equipment. This information includes the following topics: System Grounding Equipment Grounding Bonding The Grounding Electrode System Solidly Grounded Systems Impedance Grounded Systems Grounding Separately-Derived Systems Calculating Ground-Fault Currents Conductor Insulation Withstand Ratings Conductor Fusing or Melting Currents Functional Grounding Lightning Protection Readership: Anyone involved with designing a proper grounding system that will serve to protect people and equipment from the effects of ground faults and lightning. And to design a proper grounding system for special applications including Solar and Wind Powered Systems. | Grounding Electrical Distribution Systems

Cleaning Validation Manual A Comprehensive Guide for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries

Cleaning Validation Manual A Comprehensive Guide for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries

During the past decades enormous progress and enhancement of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and its use have been made. And while there are support documents books articles and online resources available on the principles of cleaning and associated processing techniques none of them provides a single database with convenient ready-to-use training tools. Until now. Cleaning Validation Manual: A Comprehensive Guide for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries elucidates how to train the man power involved in development manufacturing auditing and validation of bio pharmaceuticals on a pilot scale leading to scale-up production. With over 20 easy-to-use template protocols for cleaning validation of extensively used equipments this book provides technical solutions to assist in fulfilling the training needs of finished pharmaceutical manufacturers. Drawing on the authors’ more than two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries the text offers hands-on training based on current approaches and techniques. The book does not merely provide guidelines or thought processes rather it gives ready-to-use formulas to develop Master Plan SOPs and validation protocols. It includes cleaning procedures for the most commonly used equipment in various manufacturing areas and their sampling points using a pharmaceutical manufacturing site with both sterile and non-sterile operations as the case facility. It also provides the training guidelines on downloadable resources to enable users to amend or adopt them as necessary. Grounded in practicality the book’s applicability and accessibility set it apart. It can be used as a guide for implementing a cleaning validation program on site without the help of external consultants making it a resource that will not be found collecting dust on a shelf but rather referred to again and again. | Cleaning Validation Manual A Comprehensive Guide for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries

Femininity and the Physically Active Woman

Femininity and the Physically Active Woman

The fitness boom of the last two decades has led to many people incorporating exercise into their lifestyles through activities such as jogging and aerobics. However whilst many physical and psychological health benefits have been documented far too few people actually take part in enough exercise to glean significant improvements and this is much more a problem for women than men. Femininity and the Physically Active Woman explores one reason many women offer for their lack of involvement in sport and exercise - that they are not the 'sporty' type. Precilla Y. L. Choi argues that the 'sporty' type is masculine and to determine how this notion might affect women's self-perceptions she critically examines the experiences of women athletes bodybuilders recreational exercisers and girls' physical education. What emerges is the importance of visible differences between women and men in terms of muscularity strength and agility in order to maintain the gender order. Thus if a girl or woman wishes to play the masculine game of sport she must do so in conformity with a number of patriarchal rules which ensure she is first and foremost recognised as a heterosexual feminine being. Contributing to a psychology of the physically active woman by examining women's experiences from critical feminist and gendered perspectives Femininity and the Physically Active Woman will be of great interest to students researchers practitioners and teachers from a range of disciplines. Precilla Y. L. Choi is the British Association for the Advancement of Science's Joseph Lister Lecturer for 2000. She has co-edited with Paula Nicolson Female Sexuality (Prentice Hall).
