Sew Your Own Rainwear When sewing your own rainwear, choosing the right material is essential to ensure your new rainwear keeps you dry. This fabric is a good choice, as you get a quality that is lightweight, practical, windproof and waterproof with a water column pressure of 5,000 mm.  Choose from several beautiful colours.  Rainwear That Fits Design rainwear that's not just functional, but also stylish and personal. When you sew your own rainwear, you have the opportunity to tailor it to your needs and preferences. Adjust the design to fit your exact figure and add pockets and other details to suit your needs.  To ensure your rainwear remains waterproof, it's important to seal the seams by making the correct stitches: Search for "seam tape for rainwear fabric" and find a free guide.  About Water Column Pressure Water column pressure indicates how large a column of water the material can withstand before water begins to penetrate. The higher the water column pressure, the more waterproof it is. A good rule of thumb is that +2,000 mm is good for light rain showers/short trips in the rain, while +5,000 is for a heavier rain shower or a couple of hours with light rain. If you're going to be out in heavy rain, we recommend +8,000 mm.  Some Practical Information This fabric consists of 65% polyester and 35% polyurethane. The width is 140 cm, while you naturally choose the length you need for your project.  We recommend using a universal needle size 70.  What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®? OEKO-TEX® is the world's leading health label for textiles.  When the fabric is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, it's your guarantee that it has been tested and approved and is free from any harmful chemicals.

Bias tape cotton 18mm stars grey 3m

Bias tape cotton 18mm stars grey 3m

Use patterned bias tape for details   When you use bias tape in your projects, you achieve a beautiful finish. Have you considered patterned bias tape? It makes details stand out and makes your project even more personal.     This edge tape is patterned in a gorgeous, matte cotton quality. Use it as an edge on a pocket, around the neckline, or anywhere you wish to add colour and make the finish a bit more special.     The bias tape is 18 mm wide, made of 100% cotton, and comes in a package of 3 meters.     Use bias tape for ...   Sew bias tape on blankets and bath towels. Use it on dresses, shirts, and blouses – and for baby clothes and bodysuits. Let the bias tape act as fine details and beautiful finishes on edges and cut-outs.     Worth knowing about bias tape  Bias tape has the (almost) magical ability to adapt to many fabrics. As the name suggests, it's cut on the bias, so it naturally follows your curves, necklines, corners, and edges. This results in a beautiful finish.     How to sew on bias tape  Bias tape is for sewing onto curves, corners, and straight stretches. When you sew the bias tape onto your project, you use straight stitches with a stitch length of about 2.5 cm. As you sew, you must not pull or stretch it. Let it align naturally along the edge to get a neat result.     TIP  When you start sewing your bias tape on, fold in about 2 cm, so it's double-layered. When you finish, tuck the other end's fold over your folded start. The same principle applies when extending the bias tape.
