This Evacuation Sheet has been specially designed for use in emergencies where a patient needs to be transferred from a bed to a chair. The sheet is fitted beneath an ordinary foam mattress, to which it attaches with elasticated bands. In normal use, it lies unobtrusively beneath the mattress but if the user needs to be evacuated quickly, he or she can be held securely in place by means of safety straps and then pulling straps can be released from pockets at either end. In this way, with the patient and mattress both safely inside, it transforms itself into a simple, flexible evacuation sledge.
