GEORGE NELSON BUBBLE LAMP, a fabulous reissued collection : Designed by pioneering American designer George Nelson in 1947, and first produced in 1952, the Bubble lamp signaled a revolution in the Modernist lighting industry. Available in an assortment of organic sizes and shapes, these elegant orbs were inspired by a set of silk-covered Swedish pendant lamps Nelson wanted for his office, but found to be too expensive. Employing the resourcefulness that characterized his working process, he decided to use a plastic spray developed by the U.S. military, and applied it over a lightweight, rounded-steel frame to produce these soft, glowing fixtures. All Bubble Lamp models are produced in the same American factory that originally developed them in the 1950s. The Bubble Lamp is produced in several shapes, including the classic spherical ball shape and an elongated oval shape. Each model has a steel-wire skeleton on the interior, which is spray coated with the translucent plastic polymer

The COPENHAGUE desk CPH90, made in solid wood and plywood : With its small size, CPH90 is an interpretation of an old school desk. HAY has invited Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to design a new collection of furniture for the redesigned University of Copenhagen (KUA). The collection includes wooden chairs, bar stools and several tables. The designers have attempted to create a range of educational furniture, which in form and identity has a clear dating in our age, and with it's compelling manner uncovers the current functional needs of a university. It has also been our aspiration, to distance ourselves from the slightly institutional expression of traditional educational furniture and create furniture with greater originality and a more domestic expression.
