Lost Words: Beyond the Page is a two-dimensional platformer enriched with elements of logical games . The title was developed by Fourth State studio, and the production team included many industry veterans. Lead designer Mark Backler previously worked on Fable II , with Rhianna Pratchett, a writer who has scripts for many popular productions, including Heavenly Sword , Mirror's Edge , Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider .
Story
In Lost Words, we explore a teenage girl's diary. We spend part of the adventure in the fantastic lands she has invented, but the journey also takes place on the pages themselves. In this way, we learn about the author's problems and discover her story step by step.
Gameplay
Lost Words is a 2D platformer in which we explore locations, avoid threats and collect items. The game's story structure has a great influence on the course of the game. Often, instead of using platforms, we jump over written words and sentences. The effects of the diary formula do not end there. In addition to dexterity challenges, we also have to face numerous puzzles. Solving puzzles involves manipulating the words in a diary, which in turn introduces changes to the world he describes. This use of text takes many forms. Sometimes on the pages of the diary we rearrange some words just to create a staircase to the goal. In turn, in the fantasy world, we have to be more inventive and, for example, from the text "nothing was able to put out the fire in her heart" we take the word "fire" to set fire to a pile of sticks.
