After exterminating most humans, the returning ice age has completely changed the daily lives of the survivors. Gathered together, they must re-create certain forms of society, developing new customs, laws, and habits to help them survive.
Steam-powered technology with heat generators allows them to defy the overwhelming cold. But the farther away from the generator, the less chance of survival, both for the humans, who contract serious illnesses, and for the machines, which tend to break down.
Welcome to a grim, post-apocalyptic reality where heat means life, and there is a high price to pay for every decision. Elected mayor of the last city on Earth, you will face the extremely difficult task of rebuilding society and providing your people with the resources they need to survive.
Become the ruler of a 19th century city
Manage both the citizens and the infrastructure in which they live, providing your people with the best of everything - hope for survival. Build housing for your people, construct industrial buildings (especially coal mines), hospitals, shelters or diners.
Be responsible for the laws you apply and the economic decisions you make, keeping in mind that virtually every decision will have its side effects. Decide how your people will work, their health care, their food supply, and many other important aspects of daily life.
Often the moral dilemma you will face will be a tough nut to crack. You'll have to decide whether a mining accident involving children is reason enough to halt mining for the day, or whether such a move will have disastrous consequences for society as a whole.
The gameplay in Frostpunk asks a simple question: what will people do when pushed to the limit?

Since your ultimate goal is New London, don't forget about its surroundings as well. The ice cap can hold much more than is available within your city limits.
Explore the surrounding areas, sending your crew on expeditions that can bring unique benefits - unique information, valuable supplies, new community members, etc. Focus on technological development, as survival requires progress.
Pay attention to short-term needs, but also keep the long-term outlook in mind and invest in the technological process. Strive for automation, as any device that can relieve the burden on your people is at a premium.
