Just Cause 3 is the third installment of the acclaimed series of action sandboxes. As before, we are dealing with the work of the Swedish team Avalanche Studios, responsible, among others for the games Mad Max and Renegade Ops. Just Cause 3 on PC is practically the same game as on other hardware platforms, and most of the differences come down to the graphics design.
In Just Cause 3 on PC, PS4 and XONE, we once again play the role of Rico Rodriguez, now a former secret agent working for a special CIA cell known as the Agency. This time, the hero goes to the Mediterranean, to his native Medici republic, which suffers under the brutal rule of General Di Ravello. Our task is to bring down the dictator.
Just Cause 3 is a third-person action game in which the gameplay does not differ from what we dealt with in the previous installments of the series - the whole thing is focused on dynamic and effective action. Rico is not one of the agents who value discretion - the hero's path is marked by piles of corpses, explosions and destroyed objects. The protagonist destroys the dictator's achievements, unleashing hell in the centers of his power - military bases, harbors, prisons or police headquarters. A rich arsenal helps him wreak destruction, including both smaller caliber firearms (shotguns, rocket launchers, etc.), as well as anti-tank guns, air raids, etc. An island of over 400 square miles, offering a variety of locations and a very large size, awaits you to explore. freedom of movement - we can study both the bottom of the surrounding sea and the peaks of the mountains rising above it. For travel, we use a lot of traditional vehicles (from cars and motorcycles, through boats, to planes and helicopters), as well as agent's gadgets, including, for example, a characteristic Wingsuit for gliding and a special rope with a hook. As always, the world is filled with casual side activities and hidden "collectibles".
Just Cause 3 for PC, PS4 and XONE is a production intended for loners, because we will not find any form of multiplayer. When playing alone, however, we can compare our achievements with other players thanks to special online rankings.
The title is the first game in the series that was prepared for the eighth generation consoles and PCs, so in the graphic design you can see a significant improvement over the "two". The world of Just Cause 3 on PC, PS4 and XONE is powerful and full of details, and the additional attraction are spectacular special effects.
Story and Characters
The story of Just Cause 3 picks up six years after the events of the second installment of the series. The main character of the game, Rico Rodriguez, returns home to the island of Medici. However, our protagonist cannot enjoy a well-deserved rest. The island has been taken over by the ruthless dictator, general Sebastiano Di Ravello. Rico decides to once again step in and restore democracy to his home, and alongside the rebels, led by his longtime friend Mario Frigo, sets to overthrow the general.
Reception & Summary
Just Cause 3 on PC received mixed to generally favorable reviews from critics and players. Amongst the positives of the game, they named the possibility to blow up a lot of things, crazy game mechanics, and fun characters. If you’re looking for a game that will throw you right in the middle of breakneck action, filled with explosives, flying vehicles and grappling hooks, Just Cause 3 is a title tailored just for you.
