Year Walk is an adventure game by the Swedish studio Simogo. The production was originally released in 2013 for iOS mobile devices, and then was transferred to PCs with numerous improvements and changes. Story The plot of the game draws from Swedish folklore. The main character is a young man living in a small 19th-century village. He is not sure of the honesty of his beloved's feelings, so in order to get answers to the questions that haunt him on the last day of the year, he goes on the title march through the snow-covered forest. According to tradition, people who do this have a chance to gain favor with supernatural beings living among the trees and thus learn the truth. Gameplay The game is a 100% adventure game. There are no arcade sequences in it and instead all the fun is to explore a maze-like forest and solve puzzles. The puzzles are not easy and when playing, it is a good idea to write down all the clues yourself, as well as draw a map to help you not get lost between the trees. The PC version of Year Walk is not just a simple conversion from mobile devices. Instead, this release has been completely overhauled to fit well with the specifics of this platform. The prototype used a touchscreen and accelerometer in an ingenious way. Therefore, the developers not only developed a new control system, but also deeply modified many puzzles. Some of them have even been removed and replaced with completely new puzzles. Some changes are so big that they have forced the creation of additional locations.
