Chivas Regal 12 Year Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Chivas Regal 12 Year Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Chivas Regal 12 Years Whisky Produced by Chivas Brothers (which is owned by Pernod Ricard) at the Strathisla distillery in Keith, Moray in Speyside (Scotland, UK). This distillery was founded in 1786, and is the oldest continuously operating Highland distillery. Their 12 Years Aged Whisky is a blended Scotch Whisky, and the market-leader in the 12 year and over aged whisky category in Europe and Asia Pacific. It's made of a blend of malt and grain scotch whiskies and is their signature blend. It was also the first in the family of Chivas whiskies to have been released after prohibition. Known and loved flavours which are iconic in the Speyside region are at the heart of this whisky. Wild heather, sweet honey and crisp orchard fruits are the result of years of experience from the master blenders. This taste has been maintained since the pioneers of blended Scotch whisky (the founders of Chivas Regal, John and James Chivas) first started blending. Within the blend itself you will find the finest mail and grain whiskies. Strathisla single malt, Strathclyde single grain and yet more are blended to create a whisky known for its smoothness. A variety of different casks are also sourced for the maturation of the 12-year-old whiskies, again - ensuring the quality. On the nose this whisky gives the signature aromas, and is particularly aromatic. Wild herbs, heather, honey and orchard fruits all greet the nose. On the palate, this is rich, round and deliciously creamy. Honey and ripe pears come through, and are also joined by vanilla, hazelnuts and even butterscotch. The finish lingers and is particularly rich. As Chivas say.... 'Because blended is better, in life and in Scotch'. Read more about Chivas Regal Perfect Serve Whilst this can be enjoyed neat, a longer option can be really refreshing. For a classic Scotch & Soda, take a highball glass and add 50ml of the Chivas. Add 100ml of Fever-Tree Soda Water, and then carefully fill the glass with ice. Top up the glass with soda, and give a small stir to mix. Garnish with a slice of orange. This can also work with a ginger ale, swap out the soda for Fever-Tree Ginger Ale.

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin (Mini) 5cl

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin (Mini) 5cl

Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba Gin Whilst it gives a striking look to the bottle, there is a reason behind the name of Blind Tiger. Another name for a speakeasy, A blind tiger was a hidden bar which served alcohol during the period of prohibition. The door of the place would have the picture of a blind tiger or a blind pig, so those in the know would know where to go! Blind Tiger's Piper Cubeba gin is made in small batches in a "concealed" distillery in the west of Belgium, they macerate and distill the botanicals together before adding double distilled cubeb pepper. Daring and invigorating, this gin has a unique blend of botanicals, which give it a distinct spicy profile from the cubeb pepper, which is joined with hints of citrus from orange. Unusually, they use malted barley in their distillation along with the required juniper. These are joined with corriander seeds, bitter orange peel, orange blossom, ginger, green cardamom, lavender and licorice, angelica and orris root. Finally, a secret Belgian botanical is added. Definitely a spicy gin, with clear citrus notes. The end finish is spicy too, with the piper cubeb (pepper) coming through as well as a warmth from the malted barley and earthy notes from ginger liquorice and cardamom.   Read more about Blind Tiger Perfect Serve Whilst this is really delicious drunk on its own over ice, having it as a gin tonic brings out a slightly different character. The bubbles tone down the spicy notes a little, and the quinine helps draw out the citrus a little more. It works best with a neutral, and dry tonic such as Three Cents Dry Tonic. In a glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin to 150ml of the tonic. Garnish with a slice of orange, and some black peppercorns.

Edinburgh Gin 1670 (Mini) 5cl

Edinburgh Gin 1670 (Mini) 5cl

Edinburgh Gin 1670 With the natural connection between botany and distilling, this gin is a limited edition collaboration between Edinburgh Gin, and the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh. Inspiration for this gin was taken after the discovery of the "1670 Physic Garden". This was used as a source of botanical inspired medicinal remedies by two Edinburgh doctors, Robert Sibbald and Andrew Balfour. Over a 12 month period, David Wilkinson (Edinburgh Gin's Head distiller) worked with the Royal Botanic Garden's head botanist. The recipe was experimented with, and refined until both were happy.  Many of the botanicals which were finally decided upon would also have been found in the original garden, such as fennel (seeds and leaves) and sweet cicely both quite common, alongside exotic plants such as Piper Leaf, Tasmannia Lanceolata leaf and Tasmanian Mountain Pepper. The result? A contemporary gin which keeps its roots firmly in a fascinating chapter of Edinburgh’s history. "At Edinburgh Gin we are constantly striving to create new, classic gins with a modern twist. Working so closely with Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Botanist, Dr Greg Kenicer, enabled us to experiment with a range of handpicked botanicals to create an enticingly aromatic gin with lively herbaceous – almost floral notes – with added peppery spice" - David Wilkinson, Head Distiller at Edinburgh Gin Read more about Edinburgh Gin Perfect Serve This distinctive gin can be enjoyed in a classic G&T, served with a premium Indian Tonic Water such as Double Dutch Indian Tonic Water. 50ml of the gin, and 150ml of the tonic work perfectly. Garnish with a fresh basil leaf to finish the drink off. It also works well in cocktails as its crisp notes complement classic cocktails such as the Martini.

Bareksten Botanical Gin (Mini) 5cl

Bareksten Botanical Gin (Mini) 5cl

Bareksten Botanical Gin Produced by Oss Craft Distillery in Norway, Bareksten Botanical Gin has been made to represent the true essence of Norway. It is dark, wild, breathtaking and dramatic in the look of the bottle, the aromas as you open it, and the taste when you drink it.  Bareksten takes its inspiration from the Norwegian Forests. The long days of sunlight in the summer, combined with ample rain and warm weather ensure perfect growing conditions for a number of herbs and berries. These Nordic, natural and organic herbs, potatoes and berries form the basis for the unique flavour of Bareksten. In fact, 26 different botanicals are used in the production, 18 of which are locally sourced - growing around the distillery itself. Wild blueberries, lingonberries, rhubarb, and elderflower are just some of the botanicals found in Bareksten. The aroma of this reminds of the forest, earthy, slightly oak like, along with the pine like smell of classic juniper. The taste takes you on a true journey journey of flavours. It's a potent gin, with a sublime and fruity expression. Classic gin notes of citrus and juniper evoke something known and comforting, yet the additional botanicals take you on a taste journey through the Norwegian wilderness. Slight sweetness from berries, warming earthy notes, yet this isn't a heavy drink. It's extremely refreshing, and one you will come back to time after time. Read more about Bareksten Perfect Serve This is definitely best served with a neutral tonic such as Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water. Take a large glass filled with plenty of ice, and add 50ml of the gin. Pour over 150ml of the tonic, and stir gently. V2C Classic Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

V2C Classic Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

V2C Classic Dutch Dry Gin V2C takes pride in its home (Amsterdam), but like the Dutch of old, looks to the wider world when thinking of ingredients. They ensure that the gin is created to the highest standards, and use ingredients harvested from across the world. With their name, they indicate the intent behind the gin. Four friends founded V2C, and it was named after the address they lived during their studies, the famous Victor de Stuersstraat 2C in Maastricht. To this end, the gin was created to encourage lively conversation and good times with friends. With their Classic gin, they pay homage to the more classic gin flvaours, but with a definite V2C twist. They use the freshest juniper, orange, licorice, laurel and St John’s Wort, which they subtly spice with coriander, cardamom, lemon and ginger. This is a gin which is definitely juniper-forward (another "classic" part to the gin), which is joined perfectly with soft spice and tangy fruit. This brings a subtle, light complexity to the drink. The taste has a lot of oily juniper which coats the mouth perfectly. Pine and cardamom spice are balanced by refreshing citrus notes. Theres also a hint of vanilla flower which creeps in. All round this is a delicious gin, classic, but with something a little extra. Read more about V2C Perfect Serve Serve in a highball glass or copa with a lot of ice cubes. Bloedlemoen Handcrafted Gin (Mini) 5cl

Bloedlemoen Handcrafted Gin Pronounced ‘Blue’d Le Moon’, this is a South African gin which is made from the luscious Tarocco Blood Orange. Gin 1689 Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Gin 1689 Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Gin 1689 This gin is based on an original recipe (from 1689.... hence the name!), by the Dutch William of Orange after he was proclaimed King of England, Ireland and Scotland in 1689. Through painstaking research in the Royal British Library's rare book section, this recipe came to light after being found in the rare books archive. The recipe detailed the original ingredients, but unfortunately the quantities were concealed by code, which to date has not been broken! Not to be deterred, the rights of the recipe were acquired, and a perfect partner found to recreate the delicate flavours of the original gin: Herman Jansen. One of the Netherlands finest distillers, the distillery was founded in 1777 and based in the Dutch Gin & Genever capital Schiedam. Through trial and error, today's recipe was perfected and finalised. The original ingredients from 350 years ago are used, with Gin 1689 beautifully combining juniper with dried quince and pippin (an ancient apple variety), lemon and orange peel, nutmeg, aniseed and clove. It's quite fruity on the nose, but not surprising when you see the recipe. Juniper is present, but takes more of a background role, with a sweet spiciness, and a touch of citrus being much more pronounced. As with all gins, the taste differs when drinking straight (neat, over ice), or with a tonic. When tried neat, the juniper comes forward in the taste with a pleasant tanginess (coming from the quince and apple). Citrus notes are present, but more round the gin off than being too prevalent. When tried with tonic, this really comes alive as the carbonation (bubbles), lift the botanicals allowing more to shine. The citrus is more noticeable when drunk this way. Coming in a brilliant blue bottle, with regal gold lettering befitting its Royal background, the overall result is definitely fit for a King! Read more about Gin 1689 Perfect Serve Try sipping this gin neat over ice to really appreciate the recipe, and time taken to bring this gin back to life. If enjoying as a G&T we recommend Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water. 50ml of gin to 150ml of tonic is a good ratio to work with, but feel free to adjust to your taste. Garnish with a slice of orange and a few juniper berries.

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin (Mini) 5cl

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin (Mini) 5cl

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin Created at the edge of a lake, in a small Irish town called Drumshanbo (from where the gin gets it's name). It's here you will find The Shed Distillery. This is a gin which is far from ordinary, they slow-distil their gin using some of natures finest oriental botanicals, along with gunpowder tea. The bottle itself hints at the creativity behind this gin. Showing the Jackalope, a creature of mystery and wonder. It is the mythological progeny of a jackrabbit, and an antelope. Apparently conceived during a lightning storm - the Jackalope appears in Drumshanbo at will.... like a dream. There one minute, gone the next in a flurry of feet and antlers. Drumshanbo is about bringing together previously unrelated things, for the first time - but likely not the last. Seeing possibilities in the unusual. Its for this reason the Jackalope has become the symbol of the remarkable Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin. A whole range of botanicals are used in the creation of this gin, inspired by the travels of PJ Rigney, the Master Distiller. Using juniper, coriander, star anise, orris carrot, chinese lemon, grapefruit, kafir lime and (as the name suggests) gunpowder tea. The gunpowder tea is a green tea which has been slowly dried, and gives a bold, bright and slightly spiced freshness to the gin. The nose on this gin is refreshingly light, and citrus-forward. There is a citrus zest note which blends with herbaceous juniper, as well as a little juniper. On the palate this is a blast! It explodes with flavours, with citrus dominating. Grapefruit really shines through here. Mid palate the juniper and tea come through, along with a bright note from juniper. The gin finishes quieter, slightly sweet with herbal notes. Anise, cardamom are subtle, and lead into meadowsweet - which lends a delicate honey vanilla nuance.  Whilst this has a rather eccentric blend of botanicals, they all work exceptionally well together, and the gin is a very balanced one. Read more about The Shed Distillery Perfect Serve For the Drumshanbo Signature serve, Take a large glass and fill with ice. Add 50ml of Gunpowder Gin, and add 150 - 200ml of a premium neutral tonic. Stir gently and garnish with a wedge of pink grapefruit.

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky First produced in Scotland by Willian Grant & Sons in 2003, Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt whisky (the style used to be called 'Vatted Malt Whisky'). Since it's introduction it has fast grown to become the world's third best-selling brand of Scotch Whisky.  Whilst Monkey Shoulder has only been produced since 2003, William Grant & Sons has been distilling award-winning Scotch whiskies since 1887. It was created primarily to ensure the perfect whisky cocktail (but of course can also be enjoyed straight!). It was originally a blend from the Balbenie, Glenfiddich, and Kininvie distillers - but it's current composition is a secret. However it is known that its constituent malt whiskies originate from the Speyside region of Scotland (the area around the River Spey in northeastern Scotland). Fun Fact: The brand name 'Monkey Shoulder' is a reference to a repetitive strain injury which distillery workers often suffered from. This was due to long shifts turning malt by hand. On the nose there is zesty orange, with vanilla honey and spiced oak. On the palate there is a mild vanilla flavour, with hints of spice. As it was made to be mixed, its smooth, malty and fruit notes are strong enough to stand out in the mix - but remain balanced so as not to over-power a cocktail. More from Monkey Shoulder Perfect Serve As mentioned, this is a whisky which was made for mixing - and so we have a couple of options. Firstly, for a refreshing OMG (Orange / Monkey / Ginger), a variation on the Ginger Mule. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the Monkey Shoulder and 120ml of your favourite ginger ale (we like Fentimans). Stir gently and garnish with a wedge of Orange. For a Rob Roy Cocktail, take a mixing glass filled with ice and add 50ml of Monkey Shoulder, 25ml of Sweet Vermouth, and 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Mix well until chilled and then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with some orange zest.
