Rebel Straight Bourbon Whiskey Founded in 1849 by William Larue Weller, Rebel have been defying trends since the very beginning. At that time the everyone was creating bourbon using a rye mashbill. They decided to do things differently, and pioneered wheat-based bourbon.  Now, over 170 years later, they continue to defy trends - whilst also winning awards with their wheated recipe.   Their Rebel Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the 'original mischief-maker'. It's still made today (in Bardstown, Kentucky) using their time-honoured recipe. On the nose this ia a bourbon which is full of sweet honey, butter and raisins. The flavour is big and well rounded, which directly follows on from the aroma. Honey, butter and rich dark fruits come through. The finish is long and warm, and introduces a touch of spice right at the end. More from Rebel Perfect Serve This is deliciously smooth, whether you prefer it neat, on the rocks, or mixed. We particularly like this in a classic Bourbon & Cola. Pour 50ml of the bourbon into a rocks glass with a few cubes of ice. Top up with your favourite cola (we like Franklin & Sons 1886 Cola - but any quality cola should work). Stir gently, and enjoy!

Lebensstern Alpine Gin Het verhaal achter de gins van Lebensstern begint in Berlijn. De Lebensstern Bar is gevestigd in een voormalig illegaal casino uit de jaren 1920, gelegen boven Cafe Einstein. Ze staan bekend om hun uitstekende cocktails en een indrukwekkende collectie flessen (meer dan 1.800 sterke dranken, waaronder 600 rum en 200 gins). Hun assortiment gins wordt geproduceerd door de Destillerie Freihof in Lustenau, Oostenrijk. Hier distilleren ze al sinds 1885 – en zijn tot op de dag van vandaag nog steeds een familiebedrijf. Voor deze Gin haalden ze inspiratie uit het Alpengebied en gebruikten ze een aantal kruiden en plantaardige ingrediënten die daar te vinden waren. Zelfs de lichtblauwe tint van de gin doet denken aan de alpenhemel. Het aroma heeft delicate hints van dennenachtige jeneverbes, maar ook frisse, bloemige, kruidige tonen. In de mond versmelten de kruidige smaken weer perfect met de jeneverbes. Een lichte bloemige kwaliteit, met vlierbloesem en citrus als achtergrondnoten, zorgt ervoor dat dit een echt verfrissende gin is. Meer van Lebensstern Perfect Serve Je kunt hiervan langzaam genieten met veel ijs, maar wij vonden dit het lekkerst gemengd met een tonic van vlierbloesem. Dit voegt een beetje meer zoetheid toe en verbetert de smaak van de gin. Fentimans Elderflower Tonic werkte uitzonderlijk goed. Neem een groot glas gevuld met ijs en voeg 50 ml gin toe. Giet er voorzichtig 150 - 200 ml van de door u gekozen tonic over en roer voorzichtig. Garneer met een schijfje citroen.

Lebensstern Pink Gin The story behind the Lebensstern range of gins starts in Berlin. The Lebensstern Bar is located in a former 1920s illegal casino situated above Cafe Einstein. They are well-known for their excellent cocktails, and an impressive collection of bottles (more than 1,800 spirit, including 600 rums and 200 gins). Their range of gins are produced by the Destillerie Freihof in Lustenau, Austria. Here they have been distilling since 1885 - and remains a family owned company to this day. The Pink Gin re-creates the pinks gins which were enjoyed in the mid 19th century. These were created using Plymouth Gin and a few dashes of Angostura Bitters. These dark red bitters gave the drink a pink hue. This means this isnt a pink gin like a number of those found today (which are typically sweet and fruity). This gin has definite herbal aromas, with hints of pine from the juniper. On the palate there herbal notes continue, blending perfectly with the classic juniper. These are joined by a delicate floral tone, and a very delicate sweetness from elderflower. More from Lebensstern Perfect Serve This can be enjoyed slowly over plenty of ice, however we liked this best mixed with an elderflower tonic. This adds a little more sweetness and enhances that found in the gin. Fentimans Elderflower Tonic worked exceptionally well. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of lemon.

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky First produced in Scotland by Willian Grant & Sons in 2003, Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt whisky (the style used to be called 'Vatted Malt Whisky'). Since it's introduction it has fast grown to become the world's third best-selling brand of Scotch Whisky.  Whilst Monkey Shoulder has only been produced since 2003, William Grant & Sons has been distilling award-winning Scotch whiskies since 1887. It was created primarily to ensure the perfect whisky cocktail (but of course can also be enjoyed straight!). It was originally a blend from the Balbenie, Glenfiddich, and Kininvie distillers - but it's current composition is a secret. However it is known that its constituent malt whiskies originate from the Speyside region of Scotland (the area around the River Spey in northeastern Scotland). Fun Fact: The brand name 'Monkey Shoulder' is a reference to a repetitive strain injury which distillery workers often suffered from. This was due to long shifts turning malt by hand. On the nose there is zesty orange, with vanilla honey and spiced oak. On the palate there is a mild vanilla flavour, with hints of spice. As it was made to be mixed, its smooth, malty and fruit notes are strong enough to stand out in the mix - but remain balanced so as not to over-power a cocktail. Firstly, for a refreshing OMG (Orange / Monkey / Ginger), a variation on the Ginger Mule. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the Monkey Shoulder and 120ml of your favourite ginger ale (we like Fentimans). Stir gently and garnish with a wedge of Orange. Gin 1689 Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Gin 1689 This gin is based on an original recipe (from 1689.... hence the name!), by the Dutch William of Orange after he was proclaimed King of England, Ireland and Scotland in 1689. Through painstaking research in the Royal British Library's rare book section, this recipe came to light after being found in the rare books archive. The recipe detailed the original ingredients, but unfortunately the quantities were concealed by code, which to date has not been broken! Not to be deterred, the rights of the recipe were acquired, and a perfect partner found to recreate the delicate flavours of the original gin: Herman Jansen. One of the Netherlands finest distillers, the distillery was founded in 1777 and based in the Dutch Gin & Genever capital Schiedam. Through trial and error, today's recipe was perfected and finalised. The original ingredients from 350 years ago are used, with Gin 1689 beautifully combining juniper with dried quince and pippin (an ancient apple variety), lemon and orange peel, nutmeg, aniseed and clove. It's quite fruity on the nose, but not surprising when you see the recipe. Juniper is present, but takes more of a background role, with a sweet spiciness, and a touch of citrus being much more pronounced. As with all gins, the taste differs when drinking straight (neat, over ice), or with a tonic. When tried neat, the juniper comes forward in the taste with a pleasant tanginess (coming from the quince and apple). Citrus notes are present, but more round the gin off than being too prevalent. When tried with tonic, this really comes alive as the carbonation (bubbles), lift the botanicals allowing more to shine. The citrus is more noticeable when drunk this way. Coming in a brilliant blue bottle, with regal gold lettering befitting its Royal background, the overall result is definitely fit for a King! Read more about Gin 1689 Perfect Serve Try sipping this gin neat over ice to really appreciate the recipe, and time taken to bring this gin back to life. If enjoying as a G&T we recommend Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water. 50ml of gin to 150ml of tonic is a good ratio to work with, but feel free to adjust to your taste. Garnish with a slice of orange and a few juniper berries.
