V2C Classic Dutch Dry Gin V2C takes pride in its home (Amsterdam), but like the Dutch of old, looks to the wider world when thinking of ingredients. They ensure that the gin is created to the highest standards, and use ingredients harvested from across the world. With their name, they indicate the intent behind the gin. Four friends founded V2C, and it was named after the address they lived during their studies, the famous Victor de Stuersstraat 2C in Maastricht. To this end, the gin was created to encourage lively conversation and good times with friends. With their Classic gin, they pay homage to the more classic gin flvaours, but with a definite V2C twist. They use the freshest juniper, orange, licorice, laurel and St John’s Wort, which they subtly spice with coriander, cardamom, lemon and ginger. This is a gin which is definitely juniper-forward (another "classic" part to the gin), which is joined perfectly with soft spice and tangy fruit. This brings a subtle, light complexity to the drink. The taste has a lot of oily juniper which coats the mouth perfectly. Pine and cardamom spice are balanced by refreshing citrus notes. Theres also a hint of vanilla flower which creeps in. All round this is a delicious gin, classic, but with something a little extra. Read more about V2C Perfect Serve Serve in a highball glass or copa with a lot of ice cubes. Pour in 50ml of the gin, and top up the glass with 150 - 200ml of Fentimans Premium Tonic Water. Garnish with a slice of fresh ginger, fresh lemon and a few juniper berries. Hooghoudt Sweet Spiced Genever With their sweet spiced genever, Hooghoudt bring a contemporaty twist to Genever - and sure to please genever lovers, as well as introduce it to a whole new audience. Made in a traditional way, with juniper and spice - this has a sweetened taste (as the name suggests), being made also with vanilla and cinnamon.  This is a really apppealing genever on the nose, with a sweet caramel aroma and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. There is a definite note of juniper too, and a touch of liquorice. On the palate this has similar notes to the aroma. It's smooth, and bursting with flavour. There's quite a lot of spice, but mild and warming rather than full of heat. A touch of fruit from grapefruit and apricot, and caramel along with vanilla really come through as well. In a tall glass filled with ice, pour 50ml of the genever and top up with 150 - 200ml of Ginger Ale (we like this with Fever-Tree Ginger Ale). Brygga Gin Göteborg Gran Produced in a small distillery located in Gothenburg, Western Sweden, Brygga Gin is an expansion of the Beersmiths AB family. With their Göteborg Gran gin, they have created a classic London dry gin which has a defined spruce and citrus expression. A number of carefully selected botanicals are used in its creation, but at the fore are the juniper berries and spruce shoots. These give this gin its defining character. It gives a delicious spiciness to the nose and on the palate, with both the juniper and spruce being forward. This is mid way through the drink with a delicate herbal back note, and a refreshing citrus taste which blends perfectly with the spruce and juniper. The finish is both dry, and fresh. Did you know? It started with George Ballantine in a small grocery store in Edinburgh. Here he would supply a range of whiskies to his customers. his developed into a larger establishment in Edinburgh, where along with his son George Junior they began to create their own blends. In 1920, the recipe for Ballantine's Finest was created, and it has stayed true to the original ever since. The result is a whisky which has become Europe's No. 1 Scotch Whisky, and was voted the World's Best Blended Scotch in 2020. Fun Fact: During prohibition, the bottles were designed to be square so that American Salesmen could conceal them in their briefcases without them rolling around should any inspectors be around! Finest is a great classic all-rounder. It has a light gold colour, and a nose which is soft, with notes of heather, honey and just a hint of delicate spice. The flavour is balanced well, subtle, and has hints of milk chocolate, red apples and vanilla. The finish leaves the palate feeling fresh, with a floral after-taste. Mermaid Spiced Rum Presented in a stunning "fish-scale" like bottle with a cork stopper, this rum is hand-crafted on the Isle of Wight (a small island off the south coast of the UK).  Mermaid Spiced Rum is a carefully selected blend of sugar cane and molasses rum from Trinidad and the Dominican Republic which have been aged between 2-5 years in oak bourbon whiskey barrels. On its arrival into the distillery, the blend is infused with local fruits and spices found on the Isle of Wight. The botanicals include rock samphire, fresh white cherry and apricot, honey from their own beehives and black salt from their floodtides. It is gently spiced using local holy grass, cassia and vanilla, resulting in a smooth yet complex rum with a hint of sea air, delicate caramel notes and a vibrant fruity spice. Did you know? Filliers Dry Gin 28 Pink Distilling for over five generations, the Filliers distillery was initially only a side venture to their farming business. It's this history, dating from 1880 that ensures Filliers create delicious and well loved drinks. They do as much on-site as they can. They pump their own spring water, gind the grain, create their own fruit and herb distillates, ferment, distill and age. Utilising this experience, in 2018 Filliers expanded their range of gins, and introduced their Pink gin. This uses their Filliers Dry Gin 28 as a base, and is enhanced and softened with the addition of fresh raspberries and goji berries. The Goji berry has a reputation as a superfood, and is said to repair muscles, protect against illness and most important of all, to calm your soul. Whilst we can't attest to any of these benefits by drinking their gin, we do know it adds a delicious flavour! The addition of raspberry juice blends with the goji berries and vanilla from the original recipe. It provides a delicious and engaging palette of fruity flavours, as well as ensuring a delightfully fresh pink colour. Overall this is a mildy spiced gin with a touch of sweetness which is given by the raspberries. Made using refined almonds, a blend of sweet warming vanilla and other herbs, this is immediately recognisable, and absolutely delicious. Brecon Special Reserve Gin Launched in 2001, Brecon Special Reserve is the first gin developed by the Penderyn Distillery (best known for its Whiskey). It's made with alcohol spirit made from Barley, 10 largely traditional gin botanicals, and is blended with water from the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. They source the best botanicals from around the world to ensure a perfectly balanced gin. These include Chinese cassia bark, Sri Lankan liqourice and Italian orris root. These include Chinese cassia bark, Sri Lankan liqourice and Italian orris root. The total botanical compliment is Juniper, lemon peel, orange peel, coriander seeds, angelica root, liqourice, cinnamon, orris root, cassia bark and nutmeg. Whilst Penderyn may be better known for its Whiskey, this is a gin which stands up in its own right. Well balanced, and full of flavour it was awarded the Gold 'Best in Class' award at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition. On the nose this has a classic aroma, full of juniper and piney earthy notes. On the palate it's warm, with just the right amount of spice. Thisperfectly balances the juniper and citrus in the gin. Sibling Original Gin The story behind the Sibling distillery starts (perhaps unsurprisingly) with four siblings. Felix, Clarice, Cicely and Digby had all grown up with their parents, who run a microbrewery. Experiencing their hard-work and dedication to producing real craft ales inspired something in them. After a short period making and selling Sloe Gin on a farmer’s market, they decided that they were going to direct their youthful enthusiasm and creative ideas into their own gin(s). After much trial and error, and the purchasing of a new type of vapour still. This still allows for small batches to be made, ensuring fresh botanicals with each distillation. It also ensures a delicate infusion of the botanicals, allowing light and fresh flavours to be infused into their gin. Unlike many distillers, they also create their own alcohol base. This allows them to ensure a base which is exceptionally pure. This, their original Triple Distilled Gin was the first gin they produced. Since launching it has become renowned for its modern and distinctly fresh flavour profile. As a gin it has a juniper lead, but this is lighter than usually found (although still definitely present). A delicate hint of spice comes through from cubeb berries – which awakens the taste buds. These flavours are then joined by fresh citrus and delicious and distinctive notes of Madagascan vanilla and blueberry. These balance the drink perfectly – helping to deliver a perfectly smooth gin. The passionate beekeepers (and spirit-lovers) have united both worlds by creating a well-crafted liqueur, using the base of Save The Queen Gin which contains a hint of honey and is a great combination with the elderflower. Schodu Gin Schodu Gin comes from the South-West of the Netherlands in Zeeland, and is made with local ingredients, sea buckthorn, rosehip, pine tips and pear along with the obligatory juniper. These ingredients blend perfectly, with none of them overpowering the others. Poetic License Old Tom Gin Reminiscent of the types of gin that were enjoyed in the 1800's, Old Tom Gin's are sweeter - and have been making a come back recently. With theirs, the Poetic License Distillery in Sunderland (North UK) have made a gin which is sweeter than their Dry Gin, but with a touch of pepper. The botanicals they use enhance the sweeter taste, and the oak casks they use continue to add additional flavour and colour. The inclusion of hibiscus and rose petals infuses their distinct character within the gin, also adding a delightful rose gold tinge. On the nose this gin is quite aromatic, with distinct floral aromas. However, with its juniper back note there is no forgetting this is a gin! Citadelle Gin Mini Since 1996, Château de Bonbonnet in the southwest of France has been the home of Citadelle Gin. Citadelle is proud of its geographic location, and from this they take inspiration. Thie aim was to distill the essence of their region into one perfectly crisp spirit. It takes time to make Citadelle gin. There are 19 botanicals that make up Citadelle. These are infused, depending on their flavour profile, for between one and four days. This is crucial so that Citadelle can acquire its full flavour profile. After this, it is then distilled in small copper stills over open flames in order to develop its suppleness and full rounded character in the mouth. Citadelle Gin exudes subtle aromas of fresh flowers which are highlighted by more assertive citric scents. In the glass, it emanates more intense, herbaceous notes of juniper and anise; which is then followed by the spicy cinnamon side which softens the nose. This brings a very gourmand dimension to the gin. On the palate, the juniper is forward, but cedes to a long, voluptuous, spicy fragrance. There are three distinct traits within Citadelle which offers its complete aromatic richness. Juniper its signature. It doesn't hide from the fact its a gin, and juniper forms the key base of Citadelle. This is joined with citrus - this is a complementary note that underlines the juniper. Then there follows the exotic - this offers an additional level of enjoyment with touches of pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon, which gives Citadelle its delicate spiciness. Overall its a beautifully balanced gin. Elegant, soft and and long in the mouth, definitely a taste of summer France in a bottle. Hooghoudt RAW Genever For their RAW Genever, Hooghoudt have combined four different malt spirits (3 individually distilled - barley, wheat, rye and the classic malt mix of wheat corn and rye), and blended this with a carefully selected selection of juniper (it is Genever!), herbs and spices.  As this is a RAW genever, it is not aged in Oak barrels, which gives it the fresh character of a young genever. Unlike with gin, the alcohol base of malt is not just a carrier for the oils and spices - but also a flavour in itself of the genever itself - and adds a distinct flavour. The aroma of this genever has subtle grain notes, which are complemented with juniper, citrus and a herbal background. The flavour is again full of the grain used in its creation, with citrus, coriander and a mild touch of sweetness. Velverty in the mouth, and with a slight spice in the aftertaste.
