De Kuyper Blue Curaçao The history of the De Kuyper company goes back to 1695, when Petrus De Kuyper married Anna Custers. The company is still owned by the same family, with the current owners tracing their ancestry back to this couple. In the 1920's De Kuyper started producing liqueurs and by the 1930's they were producing over twenty types of liqueurs. For the fourth year running now, they have been recognised as “Liqueurs Producer of the Year” by the International Spirits Challenge. Part of their 'Essentials' range (it should be in every drinks cabinet!), this Blue Curaçao liqueur is made with bitter orange peels - giving it an intense citrus flavour. The addition of colouring gives its distinctive blue colour - which is utilised in many cocktails. Jameson Irish Whiskey John Jameson, the founder, moved to Ireland from Scotland, and in 1780 started producing whiskey in Dublin, Ireland in 1780. Produced ever since, it is now produced at the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland. A blended whiskey, its produced by taking selecte pot still and fine grain whiskies. These are then triple distilled. This gives Jameson it's signature smoothness. Once this process is completed, the whiskey is aged for a minimum of four years in oak casks.  The result of this is the world's best selling Irish Whiskey. On the nose it has a light floral fragrance, which has spicy wood and sweet notes. On the palate there is a perfect balance of the spicy, nutty and vanilla notes. There are hints of a sweet sherry as well, which enhances the smoothness of this whiskey. It finishes with a mellow smoothness, lingering pleasantly on the palate. Their classic premium distilled gin is enhanced by the bitter, and zingy tang from the pink grapefruit. As well as the pink grapefruit, the other botanicals utilised are juniper, coriander, liquorice, angelica, vanilla, cardamom, iris, orange and lemon. The aroma, whilst having a defined juniper note, has a delicious overlying grapefruit hint. The flavours of grapefruit in the gin compliment and enhance it, giving a complex, bitter flavour profile. If you're a fan of citrus, this is something you'll really appreciate. Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey 70cl

Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey The original creator of Bulleit Bourbon, Augustus Bulleit created the first batch of Bulleit bourbon around 1830 (according to his great-great-grandson Tom Bulleit). Now owned by Diageo, it is produced in two distilleries in Kentucky (one in Lebanon and the other in Shelbyville). The inspiration remains from the old family recipe though. It is characterised by having a higher than usual ratio of rye in its mash bill (at around 28%). The remainder being 68% corn and 4% malted barley. It's then aged for at least six years. This higher rye ratio gives a bold, spicy character to the Bourbon - whilst remaining distincively clean and smooth. This amber coloured bourbon opens up with a bright aroma, a gentle spice, orange zest and sweet oaky vanilla aromas. The palate is smooth, and has more orange notes joined by maple, oak and nutmeg. A hint of tobacco leaf lingers through to the finish, which is long, dry and smoothly spicy. More from Bulleit Perfect Serve Easily enjoyed straight up, or with ginger ale - we particularly liked this mixed with cola. Take a highball glass, or mason jar and add a few cubes of ice. Pour in 35ml of the bourbon and 15ml of fresh lemon juice. Stir gently, then fill the glass with your choice of cola (we like Franklin & Sons Cola). Garnish with a wedge of fresh lime.

Old Hunter's Reserve Rye Whisky It was over 500 years ago, in 1518 when the history behinf Old Hunter's Reserve Rye Whisky started. This whisky is created in Czechia at the Palírna U Zeleného stromu (The Green Tree Distillery). This is the oldest distillery in Europe. Certainly a great start for a whisky. Their Old Hunter's Rye is a unique Czech whisky which is aged in American White oak barrels. This ageing is done in the cellars of Prostějov 5 metres underground, where their Blend Master (Roman Petruš) oversees the distillates. Their ageing process of their Reserve edition lasts for four years.  This ageing, along with their original recipe (which has remained a secret for centuries) ensures the whisky acquires a delicate and harmonious taste with a delicious fruity finish. The inviting copper coloured whisky opens up with an aroma which is sweet and well rounded with a light woodiness to it. On the palate it opens up with a rich, ripe flavour. The wood notes come through slowly, and linger to a sweet warm finish of orchard fruits. However they suggest trying at room temperature, as this ensures all the aromas are awakened. Or they reckon that enjoying with a little water brings the flavours forward and a little more pronounced.

Enjoyed as an aperitif, but equally at home in a number of cocktails, it is distinctively red in colour, has a citrus aroma and a pleasantly bitter-sweet flavour. Hermit Dutch Coastal Gin The makers of Hermit Gin wanted to ensure that with every sip, the drinker was taken on a journey. With it's fresh and vibrant flavour, and just a hint of saltiness, Hermit Dutch Coastal Gin certainly takes you on that journey. It's a small batch distilled Dutch gin which uses natural botanicals in it's creation. Whilst the botanicals used in this gin are kept mysterious, the makers advise 'up to ten' are used in its creation. These include juniper, coriander seeds as well as a variety of citrus peels. Not forgetting the touch of filtered Dutch Sea Water too.  These ingredients blend perfectly, ensuring a definite classic gin feel, but with a definite Dutch coastal twist (hence the name!). There are hints of spice, and a deliciously refreshing citrus layer. The flavours certainly open up, and the hint of saline (not overpowering) enhances the enjoyment of the drink. For an Orange Citrus Spritz, take a large wine glass and fill 2/3 of the way with ice. Add 50ml each of the liqueur, Aperol Spritz, Prosecco and Soda water. Garnish with a wedge of orange.

Spirited Union Bee Free Honey Liqueur was created to highlight the plight of wild bees,drawing attention to their vulnerable position. But how do you make a honey rum without actual honey?  Firstly, Spirited Union selected a single origin rum from the Dominican Republic, made from sugar cane and aged locally. This gives the rum base its rich taste and character which is then complimented by subtle honey notes from the honey bush (a tea from the Western Cape of South Africa). This sustainable and eco-friendly crop grows naturally and has a natural sweetness with notes of honey and caramel, and with a subtle floral aroma. Campari is named after its founder Gaspare Campari, and was first produced in Novara, Italy in 1860.   Made with a secret recipe known by only a few who are in charge of the production. It is made by infusing bitter herbs, aromatic plants and fruit, its secret recipe originated in Novara, Italy in 1860. Definitively Italian in style and passion it's completely unique. Enjoyed as an aperitif, but equally at home in a number of cocktails, it is distinctively red in colour, has a citrus aroma and a pleasantly bitter-sweet flavour. Incredibly versatile though, it can also be the star of the show in a number of other ways: For a Campari Soda, prepare directly in a glass. Pour 60ml of chilled Campari, and top up with 180ml of East Imperial Soda Water. Garnish with a slice of orange. For a Campari Tonic, in a Copa Glass filled with ice, pour in 45ml of Campari and top up with 150ml of Royal Botanic Tonc Water. Garnish with a slice of lime Or for something a little special, try a Campari Spritz. In a large wine glass add 60ml Campari, 90ml of Martini Prosecco and finish with a splash of soda water and a slice of orange for garnish.

Filliers Dry Gin 28 Classic Distilling in small batches, Filliers utilise traditional copper pot stills in the creation of their gin. The distillery itself was established in 1880. The recipe for their Classic gin utilises 28 different botanicals (hence the 28 in the name), and was created in 1928 by Firmin Filliers. Since then, the recipe has been passed down in the family, until, in 2012 it was delicately refined by the Filliers master distillers without compromising the character of the gin. The result is award winning, delicious on its own - and forms the base for their other gins. Whilst the full recipe is a closely guarded secret, some of the botanicals and fresh fruit distillates within the 28 total are known. These are Juniper, hops, angelica root, allspice, fresh oranges, cardamom, ginger, calm sauce, orange blossom, coriander seeds, lemongrass, lavender blossom, gentian root and fresh citrus fruits. The overall result is a deliciously spicy gin with a dry character with spicy notes of pine filled juniper. This is complemented by refreshing citrus aromas. The slightly higher alcohol content than unusual ensures this is a strong & aromatic spirit. We really enjoyed it with both Double Dutch Indian Tonic and their Double Lemon. Fill a long drink glass with ice, and pour in 50ml of gin. Top up with your chosen mixer (around 150ml - but add to your taste). Garnish with a few lemon slices.

Monin Blue Curaçao La Liqueur As a young man (only 19), George Monin started selling branded wines and spirits in 1912. He chose the slogan "Passion for quality" and this is the ethos behind the company to this day. A french company, it is still family owned, and it's now the third generation leading the business. This delicious and well known liqueur is flavoured with the dried peel of the green oranges which originated in the West Indian island of Curaçao (from which the liqueur took its name). The drink immediately conjures up images of a tropical paradise, with beautiful beaches and delicious cocktails. Indeed, this drink is definitely a must-have in bars. The drink was discovered by accident by a Spanish family from Curaçao in the 19th century. It has a deep orange flavour, and can be made in a number of different colours - but it is perhaps the blue which is the best known. The colour gives a stunning tropical vibe to cocktails.  More from Monin Perfect Serve Truly versatile, this adds a tropical vibe to any cocktail. We particularly like this in a Blue Lagoon Cocktail. To make this at home, take a cocktail shaker filled with ice and add 20ml of Blue Curaçao and 50ml of Vodka (we like Tito's - but any quality vodka will work). Shake well and strain into an ice filled highball glass. Top up the glass with a good quality lemonade (we like Fentimans) - or 15ml of lemon juice and soda water. Garnish wih a slice of orange.
