Citadelle Gin Mini Since 1996, Château de Bonbonnet in the southwest of France has been the home of Citadelle Gin. Citadelle is proud of its geographic location, and from this they take inspiration. Thie aim was to distill the essence of their region into one perfectly crisp spirit. It takes time to make Citadelle gin. There are 19 botanicals that make up Citadelle. These are infused, depending on their flavour profile, for between one and four days. This is crucial so that Citadelle can acquire its full flavour profile. After this, it is then distilled in small copper stills over open flames in order to develop its suppleness and full rounded character in the mouth. Citadelle Gin exudes subtle aromas of fresh flowers which are highlighted by more assertive citric scents. In the glass, it emanates more intense, herbaceous notes of juniper and anise; which is then followed by the spicy cinnamon side which softens the nose. This brings a very gourmand dimension to the gin. On the palate, the juniper is forward, but cedes to a long, voluptuous, spicy fragrance. There are three distinct traits within Citadelle which offers its complete aromatic richness. Juniper its signature. It doesn't hide from the fact its a gin, and juniper forms the key base of Citadelle. This is joined with citrus - this is a complementary note that underlines the juniper. Then there follows the exotic - this offers an additional level of enjoyment with touches of pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon, which gives Citadelle its delicate spiciness. Overall its a beautifully balanced gin. Elegant, soft and and long in the mouth, definitely a taste of summer France in a bottle. The aging is then completed in American and French oak barrels.  They have been created as an homage to the slaves who were instrumental in the history of sugar cane and rum. (Esclavo is even the Spanish word for slave).  Crafted by Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos, the largest alcohol producer in the Dominican Republic, they use only sugar cane grown in the Dominican Republic on their own plantations. In this way they ensure they give back to the community, securing work for locals and ensuring the perfect quality. Ron Esclavo XO Cask Rum is a deep brown, slightly reddish high abv aged rum that has been matured for 12-15 years. On the nose, there are sweet and sour notes combined with hints of coconut and beeswax. On the palate, there is an silky, oily texture. Cointreau Created in 1849, Cointreau's original recipe, rituals, and commitment to quality have been passed down through generations of the family, transforming a family name into an international brand. Using only quality ingredients, Cointreau source oranges from Brazil to Spain, and Ghana to Morocco. They utilise a blend of the sweet and bitter orange peels and blend them.  The result ia balanced, versatile, and exceptionally aromatic. Whilst the bottle is a deep amber colour (and instantly recognisable), the liqueur inside is transparent. When opening the bottle you are instantly greeted by the blend of oranges. Zesty, fresh and floral, it has a sweetness to it too. The flavour is fresh yet it lingers pleasantly on the palate and is (unsurprisingly) intensely orange in flavour. For a White Lady, pour 30 ml of Cointreau, 30 ml of gin (we like the Botanist), 30 ml of fresh lemon juice and 1 egg white into a cocktail shaker. Add ice, and then shake until the ingredients are mised and well chilled. Pour into a cocktail glass, and garnish with a twist of lemon. Or for a slightly sweeter drink, try a Breakfast Martini. Pour 15ml of Cointreau, 50 ml of gin (again, Botanist works well here), 15ml of fresh lemon juice and this time 1 tbsp of Orange Marmalade into a cocktail shaker. Mermaid Gin Gepresenteerd in een prachtige "visschaal" -achtige fles met een kurken stop, wordt deze gin sinds 2014 met de hand gemaakt op het Isle of Wight (een klein eiland voor de zuidkust van het VK). De Isle of Wight Distillery gebruikt er tien. ethisch geproduceerde plantaardige ingrediënten bij de creatie van Mermaid Gin. Deze kenmerkende gin is vernoemd naar de leidende botanische (rotszeekraal), die plaatselijk op het Isle of Wight bekend staat als "Mermaid's kiss". Deze vetplant is aromatisch en klampt zich vast aan de kliffen rond het eiland, en ze markeren de vloedlijn op de prachtige stranden waar het bekend om staat. Net als de kus van de mythische zeemeermin (die zeelieden redde die op zee verloren waren gegaan), was de zeekraal een signaal dat schipbreukelingen (en smokkelaars door de geschiedenis!) Andere plantaardige ingrediënten in deze gin zijn onder meer vlierbloesem vanwege zijn aroma, paradijskorrels voor een zachte, delicate pepersmaak, biologische citroenschil voor levendige citrustonen, boadicea-hop die een pittige aardsheid geeft, koriander die een delicate, kruidige citrustoon toevoegt, engelwortel die helpt bij het mengen van de andere plantaardige ingrediënten tot een samenhangende smaak en aroma, zoethoutwortel om het mondgevoel te definiëren en een vleugje zachtheid toe te voegen, liswortel die helpt om het aroma van de gin vast te houden, en ten slotte (maar zeker niet de minste) jeneverbes die is kern in alle gins. Het levert een soepele maar complexe mix van verse biologische citroenschil en peperige paradijskorrels, met een vleugje zeelucht van de lokaal geoogste, geurige zeekraal.
