Boë Apple & Lime Gin 70cl

Rutte Dutch Dry Gin 70cl

Rutte Dutch Dry Gin 70cl

Rutte Dutch Dry Gin With a long history, the Rutte distillery has been distilling in Dordrecht since 1872. They pass recipes from generation to generation, and whilst the Rutte family hasn't owned the distillery since the 1990's, its still their processes and recipes which inspire the current distillers. For their gin they use pure grain alcohol, and 100% natural ingredients - nothing artificial. Juniper, orange zest, coriander, angelica, cardamom, and - interestingly - celery leaves. However it is not the same as salad celery, but rather a different plant. These give the gin a unique flavour which doesn't overpower - rather lingering perfectly in the background - with the Celery leaves adding a distinctive crisp quality to this unique gin. On the nose this has a traditional and classic aroma to it. Juniper comes through, joined with coriander and angelica which give an earthy herbaceousness. On the palate is where this gin comes alive. Green vegetal notes come to the fore, with juniper shining through. Citrus and coriander come forward during the mid palate and the celery leaves begin to make themselves know, giving a unique freshness. The finish is warm, with a touch of pepper and the juniper lingering to the end.  More from Rutte Perfect Serve This works very well in a classic gin & tonic, and we liked it with a little sweetness from Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150ml of the tonic and stir gently, Garnish with a few juniper berries and if available, some celery leaves.

Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 70cl

Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 70cl

Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey This premium Bourbon is produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. This is the oldest continuously operating distillery in America.... so they know a thing or two about producing Bourbon Whiskey! The American bald eagle symbolised on the front gives an indication as to the contents of the bottle. This bird of prey is the symbol of American freedon and independence. It symbolises the rarity of the Bourbon, released only in limited quantities, and known as one of America's best bourbons. In fact it is the only Bourbon to receive a Double Gold medal five times at the renowned World Spirits Competition in San Francisco! There are a number of requirements for a Bourbon to be labelled as a 'straight bourbon'. They need to have been aged for a minimum of two years (and if under four, the age must be shown), and not have any added colouring, flavouring or other spirits. Eagle Rare has been aged for at least ten years, with each barrel being carefully selected   This attention to detail, and long ageing process ensures that this is definitely a rare, and delicious Bourbon.  It has a complex nose, with delicious aromas of toffee - joined by hints of orange peel, herbs, honey, and warming leather and oak. On the palate the taste is dry and bold. A delicate touch of red fruits and honey rounds out the candied almonds and distinctive rich cocoa. It finishes with lingering flavours of vanilla and more spice from the oak. Perfect Serve Whilst this is easy to enjoy as you would most bourbons, we liked this with just a dash of water. This seemed to open up the flavours - and brought the drink alive.

Zwart Nazareth Dutch Gin 70cl

Zwart Nazareth Dutch Gin 70cl

Zwart Nazareth Dutch Gin The making of Dutch spirits definitely runs in the family, and in 1776 brothers Casper and Coenraad Kramers opened the Distilleerderij Gebr. Kramers, producing old Jenever for the brands of Hazewind, De Roos and De weg. Not only great at making spirits, they were also sucessful traders of coffee, tobacco and cigars. After nearly 200 years the distillery was closed but the flame was kept alive as the family stories continued and the recipe safeguarded, ready for the next generation. In 2020 Peter and Jeroen Kramers re-established the Gebr. Kramers becoming the 9th generation in charge and the family recipe was passed to them. The modern variant of the original spirit was developed and ZWART NAZARETH® was born. With the success of their Jenever, a Korenwijn followed and in 2023 came the launch of their Dutch Gin. Zwart Nazareth Dutch Gin is full of flavour. Distilled using only natural ingredients, in additon to juniper, you wll get a hint of grain which comes from adding just the right amount of malt wine (the basis of jenever). There is a touch of rose giving a light floral note and citrus for a refreshing burst.  This aromatic gin is deliciously smooth with a complex taste from its layered flavour profile.  Did you know: In the 19th Century Schiedam (the Jenever capital) was called Zwart Nazareth as the soot from the distilleries and glass factories coloured the city black.  More from Zwart Nazareth Perfect Serve Black Nazareth Dutch Gin is smooth enough to be served neat and sipped. For a refreshing G&T, add 50ml gin to a glass with ice and add 150-200ml Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water and a slice of orange.

Gin 1689 Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Gin 1689 Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Gin 1689 This gin is based on an original recipe (from 1689.... hence the name!), by the Dutch William of Orange after he was proclaimed King of England, Ireland and Scotland in 1689. Through painstaking research in the Royal British Library's rare book section, this recipe came to light after being found in the rare books archive. The recipe detailed the original ingredients, but unfortunately the quantities were concealed by code, which to date has not been broken! Not to be deterred, the rights of the recipe were acquired, and a perfect partner found to recreate the delicate flavours of the original gin: Herman Jansen. One of the Netherlands finest distillers, the distillery was founded in 1777 and based in the Dutch Gin & Genever capital Schiedam. Through trial and error, today's recipe was perfected and finalised. The original ingredients from 350 years ago are used, with Gin 1689 beautifully combining juniper with dried quince and pippin (an ancient apple variety), lemon and orange peel, nutmeg, aniseed and clove. It's quite fruity on the nose, but not surprising when you see the recipe. Juniper is present, but takes more of a background role, with a sweet spiciness, and a touch of citrus being much more pronounced. As with all gins, the taste differs when drinking straight (neat, over ice), or with a tonic. When tried neat, the juniper comes forward in the taste with a pleasant tanginess (coming from the quince and apple). Citrus notes are present, but more round the gin off than being too prevalent. When tried with tonic, this really comes alive as the carbonation (bubbles), lift the botanicals allowing more to shine. The citrus is more noticeable when drunk this way. Coming in a brilliant blue bottle, with regal gold lettering befitting its Royal background, the overall result is definitely fit for a King! Read more about Gin 1689 Perfect Serve Try sipping this gin neat over ice to really appreciate the recipe, and time taken to bring this gin back to life. If enjoying as a G&T we recommend Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water. 50ml of gin to 150ml of tonic is a good ratio to work with, but feel free to adjust to your taste. Garnish with a slice of orange and a few juniper berries.
