Brecon Special Reserve Gin Launched in 2001, Brecon Special Reserve is the first gin developed by the Penderyn Distillery (best known for its Whiskey). It's made with alcohol spirit made from Barley, 10 largely traditional gin botanicals, and is blended with water from the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. They source the best botanicals from around the world to ensure a perfectly balanced gin. These include Chinese cassia bark, Sri Lankan liqourice and Italian orris root. These include Chinese cassia bark, Sri Lankan liqourice and Italian orris root. The total botanical compliment is Juniper, lemon peel, orange peel, coriander seeds, angelica root, liqourice, cinnamon, orris root, cassia bark and nutmeg. Whilst Penderyn may be better known for its Whiskey, this is a gin which stands up in its own right. Well balanced, and full of flavour it was awarded the Gold 'Best in Class' award at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition. On the nose this has a classic aroma, full of juniper and piney earthy notes. On the palate it's warm, with just the right amount of spice. Thisperfectly balances the juniper and citrus in the gin. The finish is long, and hints of cinnamon and the juniper carrying through to the end. Read more about Brecon Perfect Serve This makes a delicious classic gin & tonic. In a large glass filled with ice add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour in 150 - 200ml of your favourite tonic (we like both the Indian Tonic and Refreshingly Light tonics from Fever-Tree). Dewar's White Label Whisky 70cl

Dewar's White Label Whisky 70cl

Dewar's White Label Whisky Originally founded in 1846 by John Dewar, the Dewars brand is now a globally renowned blended Scotch Whisky. Their Iconic White Label whisky was created the year after their Aberfeldy distillery was opened in 1899 by their first Master Blender, A.J.Cameron. It soon became their best-selling variation.  The Aberfeldy distillery remains in production today 125 years later. It's located in the beautiful Perthshire Countryside, at the foot of the Scottish Highlands. It is this distillery which providies the whisky at the heart of the White Label blend, amongst a total of 40 different whiskies. Fun fact: The Celtic Truth knot found on the bottles, is formed of three interlocking D's - from the three founders: John, Tommy and John Alexander Dewar On the nose there is a honey sweetness, joined by peach and apples as well as a little wood and hay. The palate is smooth, with a medium depth to it. A smoky oakiness comes through which is joined by a vanilla toffee sweetness and a touch of honey.  The finish is long but doesn't linger and brings cut herbs and more honeyed sweetness.  Meer van Dewar's Perfect Serve Delicious savoured however you enjoy your whisky, and is perfect with a drop of water or over ice.  However it was Tommy Dewar (one of the founders), which created the 'Original Highball' in 1892 whilst in New York. He asked for his whisky to be served in a tall glass, along with soda and ice - and so the drink was born.

Filliers Dry Gin 28 Classic 50cl

Filliers Dry Gin 28 Classic 50cl

Filliers Dry Gin 28 Classic Distilling in small batches, Filliers utilise traditional copper pot stills in the creation of their gin. The distillery itself was established in 1880. The recipe for their Classic gin utilises 28 different botanicals (hence the 28 in the name), and was created in 1928 by Firmin Filliers. Since then, the recipe has been passed down in the family, until, in 2012 it was delicately refined by the Filliers master distillers without compromising the character of the gin. The result is award winning, delicious on its own - and forms the base for their other gins. Whilst the full recipe is a closely guarded secret, some of the botanicals and fresh fruit distillates within the 28 total are known. These are Juniper, hops, angelica root, allspice, fresh oranges, cardamom, ginger, calm sauce, orange blossom, coriander seeds, lemongrass, lavender blossom, gentian root and fresh citrus fruits. The overall result is a deliciously spicy gin with a dry character with spicy notes of pine filled juniper. This is complemented by refreshing citrus aromas. The slightly higher alcohol content than unusual ensures this is a strong & aromatic spirit. Read more about Filliers Perfect Serve This gin works well with both a neutral tonic, or stands up well with a lemon tonic. We really enjoyed it with both Double Dutch Indian Tonic and their Double Lemon. Fill a long drink glass with ice, and pour in 50ml of gin. Top up with your chosen mixer (around 150ml - but add to your taste). Garnish with a few lemon slices.

Bombay Sapphire East Gin 70cl

Bombay Sapphire East Gin 70cl

Bombay Sapphire East Gin Made using the same vapour inusion method as in the Bombay Sapphire Gin, the East edition uses 2 additional east inspired botanicals to make a total of 12. Bombay Sapphire's Master of Botanicals (Ivano Tonutti) has spent much of his time in the Far East sourcing exotic botanicals for distilling, and with the East edition, this is his personal homage to that area. To the classic blend of botanicals, Thai Lemongrass and Vietnamense black peppercorns are added.  These two additional botanicals, along with the original ten (Almond, Angelica, Cassia, Coriander, Cubeb Pepper, Grains of Paradise, Juniper, Lemon, Licorice, and Orris Root) come together during the vapour infusion creating a gin that truly stands apart. With the infusion of the exotic eastern flavours, a wonderfully tasteful gin comes with more than a little added spice and a generous hint of citrus. The nose has a strong citrus edge to it, along with a hit from the black pepper. Through this permeates juniper and exotic flowers. The addition of the black pepper comes through in the flavour, with a balanced warmth, along with rich and fresh citrus notes. As the drink warms in the mouth delicate spice from coriander, angelica and orris come through. The finish is a delicious fusion of citrus and pepper. Read more about Bombay Sapphire Perfect Serve We love this gin with East Imperial Old World Tonic Water, but any neutral premium tonic would work too. In a large copa glass filled with ice add 50ml of the gin and 100ml of the tonic. Stir gently, and garnish with a stick of lemongrass.

MOM God Save the Gin Royal Smoothness 70cl

MOM God Save the Gin Royal Smoothness 70cl

MOM God Save the Gin Royal Smoothness "Always wear your invisible crown with MOM, the Queen of the Gins" With the aim of breaking stereotypes, the producers of MOM Gin (González Byass) created their Royal Smoothness edition. Even the design of the bottle is intended to represent the two sides of the British character; Tradition, and modernity. The gin itself is smooth (as you would suggest from the name) and distinctive. It's made with a total of four distillations which use exoic botanicals. The succesive distillations help ensure the smooth qualities of the gin. After this process the gin is infused with red berries (sweet raspberries, and tart, ripe redcurrants) which imbue their sweet fruity flavours.  Whilst MOM definitely exudes a feminine, fashionable and sophisticated feel, this is easily enjoyed by any who like their gins sweet and fruity. This is great for those who like their gin with a quieter note of juniper. The flavour of this gin is sweet and is full of the berry flavours and aromas, with the juniper being far more delicate (although it's still present). Read more about MOM Perfect Serve To create a delicious G&T take a large glass and fill with ice, pour 50ml of Mom Royal Smoothness and mix with a 150 - 200ml of a neutral tonic (we recommend Three Cents Tonic). Garnish with a couple of Maraschino Cherries and you can even add a few drops of the syrup to create a pink hue to the drink and a little sweetness. If you like your drink super fruity, replace the tonic with Three Cents Cherry Soda. Dont forget extra cherries to garnish as well!

McQueen & The Violet Fog Gin 70cl

McQueen & The Violet Fog Gin 70cl

McQueen & the Violet Fog Gin Created in Brazil, in the hills of Jundiaí to be exact, McQueen & the Violet Fog gin is produced. This is a gin which, the producers say, is far from simple. One where they have "flipped the script". The Jundiaí area is well known for making rum, but not so much for gin. However this gin aims to change that. Similar to rum they use a high-proof sugar cane base for the gin, but the similarities stop there. They infuse a total of 21 botanicals into the alcohol base. Sticking to tradition, notes of juniper, citrus, fennel seeds and orris root are used, but added to this can be found Indian basil leaves, rosemary from Portugal, Calamansi from the South Pacific, Star Anise from Vietnam, and locally grown Acai berries. In addition, Lemongrass, pomelo and jasmine flowers are also included. This creates a deliciously different gin, which is complex yet delicate on the flavours. On the nose this gin is complex, with a number of nuanced aromas greeting you. Earthy and floral notes are joined with hints of the forest floor. These are joined with floral notes of magnolia, pine needles, and a hint of bitter bark.  The flavour profile is as intruiging as the aromas. It's bright at the beginning, with crisp notes of citrus and apple along with a kick from rosemary. The fruity notes merge into earthy juniper notes on the mid palate, and then blend further into savoury herbaceous notes towards the end. Fun Fact: The name itself sounds mysterious.... it's a fragment of poem by Instagram poet Atticus about a fictional rock concert. Perfect Serve This is a delicious gin, which whilst delightfully complex has a delicious delicacy about it. As such, it's easily enjoyed sipped neat over ice. However by adding a good neutral tonic, such as Fentimans Connoiseurs Tonic, the drink is enlivened and more flavours come to notice. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a simple sprig of rosemary.

Hennessy VS Cognac Magnum 1.5L

Hennessy VS Cognac Magnum 1.5L

Hennessy VS Cognac The history behind Hennessy goes back to 1765. It was an Irish Jacobite officer who had served in the army of Louis XV that started the Hennesy Cognac Distillery. He had retired in the cognac region where he setup the distillery and began exporting his products to the UK and Ireland. Now known as one of the 'big four' cognac producers in the world (who between then produce around 85% of the world's cognac). Hennessy is the largest of the four, and produce around 70 million bottles of cognac a year. In fact, it was in 1840 that Hennessy became the worlds leading exporter of Brandy, and to this day have not lost that title. Being a type of Brandy, Cognac falls under the French appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) which means there are strict requirements to be called Cognac. These include twice distilling specific grape varieties in copper pot stills and aging for a minimum of two years in Limousin or Tronçais oak casks. The VS (very special) designation denotes that the youngest brandy within the blend has had the minimum two years in casks (it is always the youngest brandy in the blend which gives the designation).  Hennessy VS Cognac is a blend masterfully created from over 40 different eaux-de-vie. It is the Master Blender who oversees this process to ensure the quality.  The result of this blending and knowledge is a full bodied cognac. With a renowned smoothness, and a touch of sweetness it has distinct spice notes. The aging in wood gives a light nuttiness to the cognac, which join with flavours of rich dried fruits and berries. These are all rounded out by warming vanilla. Interesting fact: In 1813 Jean Fillioux was appointed Master Blender. A member of the Fillious family has kept this role ever since - more than 250 years and a total of eight generations! More from Hennessy Perfect Serve If enjoying straight up on its own, ensure you enjoy this at room temperature from a tulip glass. However this also works exceptionally well in the mix. Try mixing with ginger ale for a longer refreshing drink, which brings out the natural spice found in Hennessy V.S. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 40ml of the V.S. Gently pour over 100ml of ginger ale (we like this with Fentimans), and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of lime.

Their whisky is a 'Harris Whisky', and as the distillery states “… we do not emulate other drams or regions”, remaining proud of who they are. This batch, (number 10) consists of 12,058 bottles in total. This batch is made using whisky matured in 4 different barrels (Heaven Hill - 21%, Buffalo Trace - 64%, Oloroso - 11% and Fino - 4%). The maturation took a minimum of 4 years, and the marrying 17 weeks and 6 days. A Legacy of Island Craftsmanship The Isle of Harris Distillery, also known as 'The Social Distillery', is at the heart of the local community, reflecting a deep commitment to the Harris way of life. The Hearach is a testament to their dedication to creating a whisky that is not only of exceptional quality but also tells the story of its origin. Even the box itself exudes craftmanship. It’s embossed all over, and includes a gneis-stone pattern on the front - which is  inspired by the stones near their water source. On the back are images of people from the Isle, which are randomly assigned to bottles. The inside of the panels have a poem in Scottish Gaelic named 'Eilean Na Hearadh' (Isle of Harris), and a small book is also included with the story of the whiskey. A bottle coaster is also included in the box, which is created from excess materials that arise during the production process.  A Whisky of Distinct Character The Hearach is notable for its complexity and balance, offering whisky aficionados a taste experience that is both challenging and rewarding. It's a whisky that pays homage to the tradition of Scotch whisky making while firmly planting itself in the contemporary whisky scene. Tasting Notes The Hearach Isle of Harris Single Malt Whisky is an adventure in a glass, revealing layers of flavour and aroma with each sip. The distillery themselves fo not issue “official” tasting notes. They advise: "The elegant flavours of our whisky will be perceived differently by different people as they allow the complex character of our dram to unfold in their glass over time. So, we won't issue any 'official' tasting notes and instead encourage folk to explore the scents and sensory experience of The Hearach single malt from a more personal point of view.” - Isle of Harris Distillery They do offer a personal tasting note from some of the locals though: “I get a gentle peat smoke on the first sip which reminds me of island home fires burning when I was growing up. It comes along with a toasted maltiness. I can also taste homemade apple sauce and smell machair flowers, particularly white clover which springs up on our west coast every summer. Mixed spices appear, and an old-fashioned sweetness from things like candied ginger, vanilla, and honeycomb. Finally, there’s a long, clotted-cream note, mixed with a lasting sense of new leather.”  - Shona Macleod, Carragreich, Isle of Harris.
