Bombay Original London Dry Gin 1L

Bombay Original London Dry Gin The history behind the Bombay Sapphire brand goes back to 1986 in England, where the gins were distilled in Warrington. However in 2014 their home moved to a dedicated distillery at Laverstock Mill in Hampshire. They distill their gins using vapour infusion. This method suspends the botanicals over the boiling alcohol, and the vapour is infused with the flavours and aromas of the botanicals as it passes over them. This is a more delicate method of distilling, and  results in a  lighter and more floral taste. Two of their four stills (of the carterhead variety, and named Tom and Mary) date back to the 1830's. Whereas their Bombay Sapphire Gin, found in the blue bottles) use 10 different botanicals, their Bombay London Dry Gin uses only 8 carefully selected botanicals.  These are Juniper Berries, Liquorice, Cassia Bark, Coriander Seeds, Angelica Root, Lemon Peel, Orris (Iris) root and Almonds. Their recipe takes inspiration from an original dating back  to 1761. On the nose this has a fresh aroma, with grassy herbal notes, piney juniper and hints of lemon citrus. This leads into a palate which is equally fresh and full of classic dry juniper flavours. These are enhanced by a mild hint of lemon and more herbal notes from coriander. It finishes crisp and clean leaving the palate with pleasant dryness. More from Bombay Perfect Serve Whilst this works well in cocktails, as a true original classic dry gin we think this makes the perfect G&T. Take a large / tall glass and fill with ice. Add 50ml of the gin and pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen (neutral) tonic. Whilst any premium tonic will work well, we like East Imperial Tonic Water. Stir gently, and garnish with a slice or two of lemon.

Hoxton Banana Rum With their gins Hoxton like to break convention.... and they've not gone far from this ethos with their amazing Banana Macerated Caribbean Rum. They've taken inspiration from Island Living all the way back to the east end of London to create this rum. They've not held back making this with love and passion. They use fresh bananas which have been macerated for five weeks with only the finest of Caribbean rums.  This creates an amazing rum.... on th enose there is the distinct molasses rum character, but this is joined by a delicious gentle banana note. The taste is something else though (in a very good way!). The banana is very much front and centre, and lingers through the whole drink. But if you're in a Caribbean mood, how about trying a Hoxton Banana Rum Punch? In a cocktail shaker, add 15ml fresh lime juice, 30ml Monin Sugar Syrup, 50ml of the rum, a dash or two of Angostura Bitters, 75ml of water and some grated nutmeg. Poetic License Old Tom Gin Reminiscent of the types of gin that were enjoyed in the 1800's, Old Tom Gin's are sweeter - and have been making a come back recently. With theirs, the Poetic License Distillery in Sunderland (North UK) have made a gin which is sweeter than their Dry Gin, but with a touch of pepper. The botanicals they use enhance the sweeter taste, and the oak casks they use continue to add additional flavour and colour. The inclusion of hibiscus and rose petals infuses their distinct character within the gin, also adding a delightful rose gold tinge. On the nose this gin is quite aromatic, with distinct floral aromas. However, with its juniper back note there is no forgetting this is a gin! On the palate the sweetness really comes through, tempered with the pepper spice - the sugary petal flavours blend perfectly. The production dates back to 1872 in Nemyriv (located to the south west of Ukraine's capital Kyiv). They still follow the same principles which were instilled when the company started; high quality, ancient recipes, as well as the constant search for improving the production process and finding new and exciting flavours. With their De Luxe edition, they have created a vodka which reflects the original recipe. They use entirely natural ingredients, pure local water, and premium grain alcohol. Their process used 11 different stages of filtration, and gives the finished vodka a refined, rich flavour with a light aroma of linden flower and vanilla. On the palate the flavour is smooth and full bodied, with a delicate hint of juniper which fades leaving a delicate and refreshing aftertaste. Part of their 'Essentials' range, their Apricot Brandy is a delicious fruit forward liqueur. As the name would suggest, this is packed full of fragrant, ripe apricot falours. This is balanced by hints of bitter orange, and rounded out with white chocolate. One word describes this.... Delicious! Luxardo Sambuca dei Cesari Luxardo has a long history, which dates back to it's initial founding in 1821 by Girolamo Luxardo. It started in the city of Zadar, Dalmatia which at that time was a part of the Austrian Empire. Fun fact: The anise plant originated in China, and has been used since ancient times for its therapeutic properties. Over the centuries, it has become widely used in the countries of the Mediterranean coast for food, desserts and to flavour drinks. Sambuca is one of the many liqueurs which are anise-flavoured, Luxardo's remains true to their original family recipe. This contains star anise, a blend of herbs and spices, a neutral alcohol base, sugar and pure volcanic water from Luxardo's own spring. Tatratea Apple & Pear Tea Liqueur The origins of Tatra Tea go back to the customs of those who lived in the High Tatras Mountain ranges of Slovakia. It was customary to offer a guest a hot tea enriched with herbal liqueur to protect them against the cold. For their Apple & Pear Tea liqueur, Tatratea have enriched the original flavours with cinnamon and ginger. These join the signature Apple & Pear to give an almost Apple Pie like aroma and flavour, whilst keeping the tea and fruity aromas. This has a well-balanced, delicious taste of apples and pears.
