Thomas Dakin Small Batch Gin 70cl

Thomas Dakin Small Batch Gin In 1761, just before the Industrial revolution, Thomas Dakin (at the age of 25), began making high quality gin in the north of England. Prior to this, the quality was generally rather dubious. His inventive outlook ensured a quality gin which made Thomas the forefather of quality gin, and makes this gin one of few with such a rich heritage. This is a classic London Dry gin, which is made in small batches in a baby copper still. Rather uniquely, Thomas Dakin gin includes an infusion of distinctive "red cole" (a type of horseradish), this was a root botanical which was frequently used in refreshing cordials in 18th century northern England. It gives the gin a long, lingering finish. This gin has a delicious aroma, with notes of sweet orange and citrus joining with the classic juniper. On the palate this is classic, with well rounded citrus and savoury botanical notes. It has a deliciously long and lingering finish, coating the mouth well. Perfect Serve Best enjoyed with a classic tonic water, such as Fentimans Premium Indian Tonic. Take a large glass filled with ice, and add 50ml of the gin. Pour in 150 - 200ml of your chosen tonic, and garnish with a slice of orange.

Captain Morgan Sliced Apple Spiced Rum Whilst the original 'Captain Morgan' (a Welsh privateer, Sir Henry Morgan, who worked in the Caribbean) may not have made rum, his namesake is now known the world over. Captain Morgan Sliced Apple Spiced Rum is a deliciously light and refreshing, fruity drink. Made using sweet, juicy apples, it has a crisp taste of a freshly sliced apple with just a touch of spice. Pour 50ml Captain Morgan Sliced Apple Spiced Rum into a tall glass with ice and add 150ml ginger beer and add a wedge of lemon. If you like it really spicy, we recommend Thomas Henry Ginger Beer.  For a simple cocktail, an Apple Sour is perfect. Add 50ml Captain Morgan Sliced Apple Spiced Rum, 25ml sugar syrup and 20ml freshly squeezed lemon juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well, strain into a cocktail glass and enjoy.

Tito's Handmade Vodka "I was raised that if you are going to do something, do it right, do it better than anyone else, and charge a reasonable price." - Tito This is the ethos that is behind Tito's Vodka. Indeed, prior to Bert 'Tito' Beveridge creating his vodka, he went out and purchased every vodka he could. He found the two best, and then when he managed to distill a vodka which consistently beat these - he felt he had his final recipe. So, in 1995 Tito got the first (legal) permit to distill in Texas (USA), and started creating his Vodka. The label is simple, and created by Tito himself. He didn't want to add any unnecessary costs, or distract from what was inside the bottle. They batch distill their vodka (which is corn-based, not the more common potato or wheat) using old-fashioned pot stills and due to the corn base, the vodka is naturally Gluten-Free. The distillation is done a total of six times to ensure it's smoothness. This is a vodka which is perfectly neutral, and extremely smooth. To this end, they hand-craft their drinks using only 100% natural ingredients which (where possible) they source locally. For their latest edition, their Apple & Elderberry Gin, they have created (arguably) the ultimate autumn gin (but delicious enjoyed any time of the year!). It's a deliciously fresh combination of ripe, crisp apples and fruity berries. Deliciously fruit forward, this is one for those who like a gin full of delicious fruity flavours. The botanicals they use are Angelica, Orange, Organic autumn bliss Raspberries and Shropshire prune damsons from the Augernik Fruit Farm (near the distillery), Coriander and of course Juniper. On the nose this has a hint of juniper, which melds perfectly with rich berry aromas. On the palate there are juicy damsons, sweet raspberries, apples and juniper. All blending perfectly. Misty Isle Spookily Spiced Gin Perhaps better known for its rugged landscapes, medieval castles, picturesque fishing villages (and perhaps whisky), it is the beautiful Isle of Skye that Misty Isle gin calls home. It is here, on Scotland's Misty Isle (a local name for the Island) that two brothers, Thomas and Alistair Wilson started the Isle of Skye Distillery. Having both been born and grown up on the island, they are unashamedly proud of their Island, its people and the produce made there. It is due to this that they wanted to create a range of spirits for which they, and the Island could also be proud of. All their Spirits are made in Portree (the largest town on Skye), and use the crystal clear spring wayers from the Storr Lochs nearby. The stills they have are. also the first to have produced gin on Skye. Just like the original Whitley Neill gin, their Black Cherry gin is Inspired by his family’s adventurous spirit. He didn’t want to just pay tribute to his family’s distilling heritage though, but also pay homage to the beauty of his wife’s African homeland. Their Black Cherry gin is inspired by the South African Cherry orchards, and is infused with the juice from the succulent black cherries. The full list of botanicals used in its creation is: Juniper Berries, Coriander Seed, Cassia Bark, Orris Root, Angelica Root, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Liquorice Root and the delicious Black Cherries. The result is inticing deep red colour, with the welcoming aroma of cherries. This is followed by almonds and a hint of chocolate. The palate doesn't dissappoint with the cherry flavours also developing in the mouth giving a rich and full flavour. Perfectly balanced, there is a sweetness from the fruits, which lead to a slight tartness at the finish which refreshes the palate perfectly. A bitter liqueur, this drink is normally enjoyed as an aperitif. It's well known by bartenders, and brings a delicious and uniquely bright and herbaceous edge to cocktails and long drinks.  Made using gentian root, it has the unique quality of earthiness, a bitter edge, and floral notes all at the same time. Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum Coming from Cuba, a place where people don’t hold back and they express their true emotions - this is a drink made to evoke emotion. This even goes into where the name came from. Inspiration was taken from a Cuban song (Lagrimas Negras), which tells the story of a young woman who was so overcome with emotion that she sobbed into a vat of rum, filling it with her sorrows. Black Tears is a rum pack full of emotion, which aims to celebrate the contemporary Cuba. This is a blend of Cuban rum and spices. Its based on a silver dry rum from one of the best Cuban distilleries and is the first dry spiced cuban rum on the market. Setting itself apart from other spiced rums, this has a bittersweet taste and a low sugar content (typical for Cuban rums). The spices used are coffee and cacao, and aji dulce (a sweet pepper, used heavily in local cuisine).  This is a rum which has a cool, golden intensity - which is both bright and clear. The flavour has a gentle sweetness from cocoa, which is accompanied with a punch from coffee on the finish. Vørdings Gin Characterised by the distinctive fragrance and taste of hand toasted cedarwood, this gin has a light smoky and refined character. It's further enriched with hints of orange, juniper and cinnamon. The result is a silky smooth distilled and fresh tasting gin. The aroma doesn't disappoint, with a hit of fresh citrus, pine from the juniper, and warm cedar notes. Scapegrace Vodka Following the success of their award-winning gin, Scapegrace have now created their own Vodka. They use a similar approach in making their vodka as they do to their gin. It's made in Canterbury, New Zealand, and uses a wheat-based neutral grain spirit, and 100% artisanal water. Whereas other vodka producers go to great lengths to extol how many times they have distilled their vodka, Scapegrace create theirs using a single distillation. Using a 19th century copper pot still they believe this, and the natural components found in the water and grain add a uniqueness to the vodka. The resul is a vodka which coats the mouth perfectly with a thick consistency and a delicious creaminess. There is a slight sweetness to it, leaving a creamy pavlova finish. Brighton Gin Seaside Strength The Brighton Gin distillery is located in the vibrant seaside town of Brighton (on the south coast of England), and has a focus on sustainable and ethical production. Brighton Gin was created from a love of gin, and a love of Brighton,, living the values of the city, being independent, fun-loving, open-minded and adventurous. Whether you are a gin enthusist or have just started your gin journey, this premium gin has been made for you. Brighton Gin is made using an alcohol base made of 100% organic pure wheat. Not only is Brighton Gin certified vegan (including the waxed bottle tops), but due to the distillation process, it's also gluten free. Their delicious gins are made using a blend of botanicals that include juniper, fresh orange and lime peel, as well as locally grown coriander, which is the first grown commercially in the UK in over 200 years. These are joined by milk thistle (a flowering herb), which is indigenous to the South Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the south of England. Brighton Gin Seaside Strength is a Navy Strength gin, and with an abv of 57%, it has a full blast of flavour. Whilst juniper is definitely front-and-centre with this gin, there is a delicious zesty citrus burst. Candied oranges, pine and a touch of spice also come through. The gin is deliciously rich and creamy - coating the mouth perfectly imparting the flavours. The citrus notes follow through to the end, imparting a seaside freshness. More from Brighton Gin Perfect Serve The distillers believe this to be a true sipping gin, and as such is best served neat over a cube or two of ice. For a more classic G&T, take a large glass and fill with ice. Add 50ml of Seaside Strength gin and pour over 150ml-200ml of premium tonic (we love this with Fentimans Connoisseurs tonic). Stir gently and garnish with a slice of lime. If you like a cocktail, this navy strength gin is perfect for a Red Snapper (the gin equivalent of a Bloody Mary). Add ice to a cocktail shaker and add 50ml Brighton Gin Seaside Strength, 50ml extra dry vermouth, 25ml fresh lemon juice, 25ml fresh orange juice, 200ml premium tomato juice, and 1/2 teaspoon celery salt, Shake, shake, shake and strain into a tall glass, add a drop or 2 of Worcestershire sauce and/or tabasco to taste, and garnish with a sprig of parsley and a stick of celery. If you are a meat eater, you can also add a rasher of crisp bacon.

Daffy's Gin Whilst this gin is made in the middle of Scotland (UK), the makers looked the world over for the best ingredients. This was because they wanted to create a gin which was "a gin like no other". They start by using pure wheat grain spirit, which they source from northern France. This is distilled in a single batch copper still, using a manner similar to malt whisky (they do make it in Scotland after all!). The botanicals they chose are a combination of the traditional found in a number of gins (juniper, coriander seeds, angelica root, cassia bark, orange peel and orris root), along with the less known within gin, Lebanese mint, and some rare variety lemons. These carefully selected botanicals are stepped, and then distilled in the base spirit, which creates a complex and exceedingly well balanced gin.  The result is something quite different within the gin world. The addition of the lebanese mint brings a real freshness, and this is joined with other notes from the citrus, along with a hint of toffee and spiced caramel. This is a slightly higher than usual alcohol content for a "non-navy" gin, which created a powerful heart to the gin - and brings the botanical flavours forward. Interesting fact.... the name Daffy comes from a slang term for Gin in Britain during the 1800's. It became so well used, even the famous writer Charles Dickens mentions it. Daffy is also seen as the Goddess of Gin (having been written about in the 1700's). Read more about Daffy's Perfect Serve As this is such a smooth gin, it can (for those who really enjoy a good gin) be enjoyed on its own, maybe with a little ice. Here it is well rounded, and smooth - with a long finish. However, we prefer this as a longer drink, and like to allow the unique flavours to come out. For a D&T (Daffy's & Tonic), pour 50ml of the gin into a large glass filled with ice, and top up with 150 - 200ml of neutral tonic (we find Double Dutch Indian Tonic works well, but any neutral tonic should be fine). Garnish with a slice of lime, and a sprig of mint.
