Southern Comfort Oorspronkelijk gemaakt in New Orleans door een barman (Martin Wilkes Heron) in 1874, is Southern Comfort een van de beroemdste likeuren ter wereld. Al bijna 150 jaar maakt Southern Comfort (vaak afgekort als SoCo) hun likeur op basis van whisky, die is gemaakt volgens het originele recept. Er wordt gezegd dat M.W. Heron dit heeft gemaakt omdat hij vond dat de whisky die in die tijd populair was, hard en overweldigend was. Hij wilde een drankje maken dat "soepel, gemakkelijk in de omgang en ronduit heerlijk" was? Hij vermengde steenfruit en kruiden met Amerikaanse whisky, werd een enorm succes en creëerde snel een iconische Amerikaanse smaak. Het won zelfs een gouden medaille op de Wereldtentoonstelling van 1904 in St. Louis, Missouri. Het werd oorspronkelijk op de markt gebracht met de uitdrukking 'None Genuine But Mine', die tot op de dag van vandaag nog steeds op het etiket te vinden is. Voeg 30 ml SoCo, 30 ml Disaronno (of andere Amaretto), 30 ml Sloe Gin (we houden van 6 O'Clock) en 60 ml sinaasappelsap in een shaker. Goed schudden en zeef in een glas gevuld met ijs. Garneer met een kers en een sinaasappelpartje.

Monin Blue Curaçao La Liqueur As a young man (only 19), George Monin started selling branded wines and spirits in 1912. He chose the slogan "Passion for quality" and this is the ethos behind the company to this day. A french company, it is still family owned, and it's now the third generation leading the business. This delicious and well known liqueur is flavoured with the dried peel of the green oranges which originated in the West Indian island of Curaçao (from which the liqueur took its name). The drink immediately conjures up images of a tropical paradise, with beautiful beaches and delicious cocktails. Indeed, this drink is definitely a must-have in bars. The drink was discovered by accident by a Spanish family from Curaçao in the 19th century. It has a deep orange flavour, and can be made in a number of different colours - but it is perhaps the blue which is the best known. The colour gives a stunning tropical vibe to cocktails.  More from Monin Perfect Serve Truly versatile, this adds a tropical vibe to any cocktail. We particularly like this in a Blue Lagoon Cocktail. To make this at home, take a cocktail shaker filled with ice and add 20ml of Blue Curaçao and 50ml of Vodka (we like Tito's - but any quality vodka will work). Shake well and strain into an ice filled highball glass. Top up the glass with a good quality lemonade (we like Fentimans) - or 15ml of lemon juice and soda water. Garnish wih a slice of orange.

St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur Whilst the bottle may look like this delicious liqueur has been made for decades, it was actually launched in 2007. During a visit to a London bar in 2001, the creator (Robert Cooper) had a craft elderflower cocktail which used elderflower syrup in its creation. Finding the drink delicious he wondered if there was a way to create a liqueur which captured these flavours. Coming from a distilling background, he embarked on a mission to do just this. In 2007 St. Germain was launched, and has since gone on to win numerous awards, and fast become a staple in cocktails and cocktail bars around the world. The bottle itself is inspired by the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area of Paris, and the Art-Deco motifs found there.  The creation uses petals from the Elderflower (Sambucus nigra) petals which are collected in the Savoie region of France over a period of a few weeks in the spring. These are then often transported by bike to ensure no damage to the delicate petals. Each bottle is numbered with the year the petals were collected. The flavour itself is quite unique, and this is one of the reasons it's become so popular - there's just nothing else quite like it! It has a light, sweet and floral flavour - which really captures the elderflowers in both aroma and flavour. It captures notes of citrus, pear and also passionfruit. The finish is long and refreshing - and feels perfectly balanced. Perfect Serve Delicious enjoyed on its own with soda water, but also really lifts cocktails.
