Rynbende Vintage Genever (Mini) 5cl

Rynbende Vintage Genever (Mini) 5cl

The Mayor of Exploration: Rynbende Vintage Genever Introduction Rynbende have a history going back more than 200 years. The distillery was established in 1793, by Simon Rybende in the world's Jenever capital, Schiedam. A former sailor, he turned to business, and distilling, and was even appointed the Mayor of Schiedam. A New Generation of Rynbende The Rynbende brand has had highs and lows during it's history and was re-ignited again in 2022, when the original Rynbende recipes were passed down to another generation through inheritance . Now called Rynbende Spirits, the focus is on producing high end spirits, with a selective distribution network (of which Gin Fling is happy to be one). Authentic Rynbended Botanicals Rynbender Vintage Genever was the first spirit to be launched and based on an old recipe found in the inherited recipe book. 'The Mayor of Exploration' is an old genever and is an ode to the glory days of the original distillery, containing authentic botanicals (peppermint leaf, angelica seed, cinnamon, clove, hyssop, angelica root, cardamom and mace) which gave it it's signature taste, setting it apart from the competition. Traditional Distilling Rynbende is distilled according to the Schiedam tradition from 1902, which produces a purer drink. It is made with malt wine that has been aged for 3 years in American oak barrels, and with smoky malt whiskey and vodka aged in European oak barrels for 25 years. This is a drink that will suit both jenever and whiskey lovers alike. Tasting Notes Aroma: Juniper berries are combined with cinnamon, camphor and a hint of peat, with underlying floral and fresh citrus notes Taste: Warm, woody notes are complimented by mint leaves, cloves, a touch of lemon and a delicate sweetness. Finish: Intense and long, More from Rynbende Perfect Serve Perfect to sip neat, Rynbende Vintage Genever is also great in cocktails. Inspired by the 'Dark n Stormy' but with genever instead or rum, how about a Stormy at Sea. Flll a glass with ice and squeeze in the juice of half a lime. Add 100ml ginger beer and pour 50ml Rynbende Vintage Genever over the back of a spoon so you get a nice layer on the top. Add a wedge of lime and enjoy. FAQ's What is the difference between genever and gin? Genever is only ever made from grains like rye, malted barley and corn, whereas Gin can be distilled from anything, including grains, grapes and even potatoes. Genever is often described as a cross between gin and whiskey and appeals to drinkers of both spirits. Where is Rynbende Vintage Genever made? It is distilled using traditional methods in Schiedam, known as the Jenever capital of The Netherlands. How should Rynbende Vintage Genever be served? Neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail. It tastes great with ginger beer and works well in a variation of a Dark n Stormy cocktail.  What food works well with Rynbende Vintage Genever? Perfect when paired with seafood, whether it's a seafood banquet, tuna sushi, a salmon and cream cheese baguette or spicy mussels.

J&B Rare Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Ballantine's Finest Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Ballantine's Finest Whisky (Mini) 5cl

Ballantine's Finest Whisky With a heritage that dates back to 1827, Ballantines is one of the most known and loved Scotch Whisky brands in the world. It started with George Ballantine in a small grocery store in Edinburgh. Here he would supply a range of whiskies to his customers. his developed into a larger establishment in Edinburgh, where along with his son George Junior they began to create their own blends. In 1920, the recipe for Ballantine's Finest was created, and it has stayed true to the original ever since. The result is a whisky which has become Europe's No. 1 Scotch Whisky, and was voted the World's Best Blended Scotch in 2020. Fun Fact: During prohibition, the bottles were designed to be square so that American Salesmen could conceal them in their briefcases without them rolling around should any inspectors be around! Finest is a great classic all-rounder. It has a light gold colour, and a nose which is soft, with notes of heather, honey and just a hint of delicate spice. The flavour is balanced well, subtle, and has hints of milk chocolate, red apples and vanilla. The finish leaves the palate feeling fresh, with a floral after-taste. More from Ballantine's Perfect Serve As a classic, balanced all-rounder, this is easily enjoyed on its own, over ice, or with a splash of water. It works well in the mix too, either in cocktails, or more simply with a mixer such as cola or ginger ale. Try adding 50ml to a highball glass filled with ice, then top up with a quality cola or ginger ale (we like Fentimans). Delicious, and really refreshing.

Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum (Mini) 5cl

Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum (Mini) 5cl

Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum Coming from Cuba, a place where people don’t hold back and they express their true emotions - this is a drink made to evoke emotion. This even goes into where the name came from. Inspiration was taken from a Cuban song (Lagrimas Negras), which tells the story of a young woman who was so overcome with emotion that she sobbed into a vat of rum, filling it with her sorrows. Black Tears is a rum pack full of emotion, which aims to celebrate the contemporary Cuba. This is a blend of Cuban rum and spices. Its based on a silver dry rum from one of the best Cuban distilleries and is the first dry spiced cuban rum on the market. Setting itself apart from other spiced rums, this has a bittersweet taste and a low sugar content (typical for Cuban rums). The spices used are coffee and cacao, and aji dulce (a sweet pepper, used heavily in local cuisine).  This is a rum which has a cool, golden intensity - which is both bright and clear. The flavour has a gentle sweetness from cocoa, which is accompanied with a punch from coffee on the finish. There is also an intruiging peppery spice, which lingers deliciously.  This is an elegant, and overall very well-balanced dry spiced rum. Rea more about Black Tears Perfect Serve A versatile rum, this can be enjoyed on its own or in the mix. We love this as a Tears 'n' Cola. In a highball glass filled with ice add 50ml of the rum, and pour over 150ml of your favourite cola. Stire, and garnish with a slice of lime

Bareksten Botanical Gin (Mini) 5cl

Bareksten Botanical Gin (Mini) 5cl

Bareksten Botanical Gin Produced by Oss Craft Distillery in Norway, Bareksten Botanical Gin has been made to represent the true essence of Norway. It is dark, wild, breathtaking and dramatic in the look of the bottle, the aromas as you open it, and the taste when you drink it.  Bareksten takes its inspiration from the Norwegian Forests. The long days of sunlight in the summer, combined with ample rain and warm weather ensure perfect growing conditions for a number of herbs and berries. These Nordic, natural and organic herbs, potatoes and berries form the basis for the unique flavour of Bareksten. In fact, 26 different botanicals are used in the production, 18 of which are locally sourced - growing around the distillery itself. Wild blueberries, lingonberries, rhubarb, and elderflower are just some of the botanicals found in Bareksten. The aroma of this reminds of the forest, earthy, slightly oak like, along with the pine like smell of classic juniper. The taste takes you on a true journey journey of flavours. It's a potent gin, with a sublime and fruity expression. Classic gin notes of citrus and juniper evoke something known and comforting, yet the additional botanicals take you on a taste journey through the Norwegian wilderness. Slight sweetness from berries, warming earthy notes, yet this isn't a heavy drink. It's extremely refreshing, and one you will come back to time after time. Read more about Bareksten Perfect Serve This is definitely best served with a neutral tonic such as Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water. Take a large glass filled with plenty of ice, and add 50ml of the gin. Pour over 150ml of the tonic, and stir gently. Finish off with a garnish of a slice of orange, or a few blueberries (frozen work really well). It also works exeptionally well in the mix, in particular in a classic Martini.

Gin 1689 Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Gin 1689 Dutch Dry Gin (Mini) 5cl

Gin 1689 This gin is based on an original recipe (from 1689.... hence the name!), by the Dutch William of Orange after he was proclaimed King of England, Ireland and Scotland in 1689. Through painstaking research in the Royal British Library's rare book section, this recipe came to light after being found in the rare books archive. The recipe detailed the original ingredients, but unfortunately the quantities were concealed by code, which to date has not been broken! Not to be deterred, the rights of the recipe were acquired, and a perfect partner found to recreate the delicate flavours of the original gin: Herman Jansen. One of the Netherlands finest distillers, the distillery was founded in 1777 and based in the Dutch Gin & Genever capital Schiedam. Through trial and error, today's recipe was perfected and finalised. The original ingredients from 350 years ago are used, with Gin 1689 beautifully combining juniper with dried quince and pippin (an ancient apple variety), lemon and orange peel, nutmeg, aniseed and clove. It's quite fruity on the nose, but not surprising when you see the recipe. Juniper is present, but takes more of a background role, with a sweet spiciness, and a touch of citrus being much more pronounced. As with all gins, the taste differs when drinking straight (neat, over ice), or with a tonic. When tried neat, the juniper comes forward in the taste with a pleasant tanginess (coming from the quince and apple). Citrus notes are present, but more round the gin off than being too prevalent. When tried with tonic, this really comes alive as the carbonation (bubbles), lift the botanicals allowing more to shine. The citrus is more noticeable when drunk this way. Coming in a brilliant blue bottle, with regal gold lettering befitting its Royal background, the overall result is definitely fit for a King! Read more about Gin 1689 Perfect Serve Try sipping this gin neat over ice to really appreciate the recipe, and time taken to bring this gin back to life. If enjoying as a G&T we recommend Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water. 50ml of gin to 150ml of tonic is a good ratio to work with, but feel free to adjust to your taste. Garnish with a slice of orange and a few juniper berries.

Licor 43 Original This Spanish liquer was first produced by the Zamora family in Spain, Licor 43 has a a history which goes back to 1946. Now in the 21st century, Licor 43 is available in well over fifty countries, and is the most international Spanish liqueur.  Licor 43 liqueur is exceptionally smooth, and has a instantly recognisable golden colour. The name hints at the recipe, with there being 43 all natural ingredients involved in its creation.  The bright golden hue of the drink really does reflect its Mediterranean heritage, evoking feelings of sun drenched golden beaches.  Whilst Licor 43 is a secret blend, it has a complex flavour profile. It is sweet, with a strong blend of citrus. There is a mild spiciness, with a touch of coriander, and floral notes from soft orange and lemon blossoms. There are botanical notes, and a hint of fruity warmth from ripe fruit. Once blended, the liqueur is rested between 6 and 9 months, so as to develop the flavours.  Read more about Licor 43 Perfect Serve Licor 43 is extremely smooth, so very easily drunk on its own or over ice.
