Rebel Straight Rye Whiskey Founded in 1849 by William Larue Weller, Rebel have been defying trends since the very beginning. Nothing changes with their Straight Rye - this is a defiantly smooth whiskey which is still made according to its original time-honoured recipe since 1849. Whilst this is a Straight Rye, they use small amounts of corn and malt in their mash. This adds additional flavours, and leads to a whiskey which is warm, rich and full-bodied. It has a defined rye-flavoured backbone, a mild woodiness and a delicious spiciness. This is balanced with notes of chocolate and vanilla. They decided to do things differently, and pioneered wheat-based bourbon.  Now, over 170 years later, they continue to defy trends - whilst also winning awards with their wheated recipe.   Their Rebel Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the 'original mischief-maker'. It's still made today (in Bardstown, Kentucky) using their time-honoured recipe. On the nose this ia a bourbon which is full of sweet honey, butter and raisins. The flavour is big and well rounded, which directly follows on from the aroma. Honey, butter and rich dark fruits come through. The finish is long and warm, and introduces a touch of spice right at the end. More from Rebel Perfect Serve This is deliciously smooth, whether you prefer it neat, on the rocks, or mixed. We particularly like this in a classic Bourbon & Cola. Pour 50ml of the bourbon into a rocks glass with a few cubes of ice. Rebel Straight Bourbon Whiskey - Cognac Barrel Finish Founded in 1849 by William Larue Weller, Rebel have been defying trends since the very beginning. At that time the everyone was creating bourbon using a rye mashbill. They decided to do things differently, and pioneered wheat-based bourbon.  Now, over 170 years later, they continue to defy trends - whilst also winning awards with their wheated recipe.   There are a number of requirements for a Bourbon to be labelled as a 'straight bourbon'. They need to have been aged for a minimum of two years (and if under four, the age must be shown), and not have any added colouring, flavouring or other spirits For their Cognac Barrel Finish (which is produced exclusively for the EU market), they take their original Rebel Straight Bourbon (which is aged for at least 4 years in American Oak), and give it a final ageing in cognac barrels for a further 6 months. This adds additional depth and flavour to the already delicious Bourbon! It's colour is a bright amber, which gives aromas full of ripe fruite and berries and sweet honey. Vanilla, caramel and a hint of oak come through too. The flavour remains full, like the original. Dried fruits, rich plums, sultanas and vanilla all come through. It finishes with a defined warmth and lingers pleasantly on the palate. Dit voegt een unieke diepte en smaak toe aan de toch al heerlijke Bourbon! De kleur is warm amber, wat aroma's geeft vol rijp fruit en bessen en zoete honing. This 10 year ageing creates a unique flavour profile for each batch, due to the characteristics imparted by the barrels. One-of-a-kind, 'just like the rebels who drink it'. The initial flavours of this bourbon are caramel and citrus. However as the drink progresses, these develop into delicious velvety oak flavours, with just the right amount of spiciness.
