Ardbeg Wee Beastie Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl Special Edition

Ardbeg Wee Beastie Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl Special Edition

Ardbeg Wee Beastie Single Malt Scotch Whisky This special edition includes an exquisite giftbox. Perfect as a gift for the whisky lover in your life, or ideal to showcase this whisky. The Ardbeg distillery is located on the south side of the Isle of Islay, in the small settlement of Ardbeg from which it takes its name. It has been producing whisky since 1798, but only began commercial production in 1815. Having changed ownership over the years, it is now owned by the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) group. It is renowned for producing a heavily peated Islay Whisky. The distillery themselves state "Ardbeg Ten Years Old is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all". They use malted barley which is sourced from the maltings in Port Ellen (also on the Island of Islay). Interesting Fact: The brand name Ardbeg is an anglicisation of 'An Àird Bheag' which is Scottic Gaelic, and means 'The Small Promontory'. Ardbeg's Wee Beastie is the latest permanent addition to their range, which they have called the rawest, smokiest Ardbeg ever. This is aged for a mere five years, but is definitely a feisty drink with a powerful taste.  The aroma brings bright, fresh herbal notes initially, with background hints of vanilla and pear. Rich strong coffee, sappy pine resin and just a touch of honey-glazed ham in the background. Add a touch of water, and the aromas open further, bringing more herbal notes, along with smoke and black pepper. On the palate there is a rich explosion of flavour. Chocolate, creosote and tar all coming across. Mid palate fresh eucalyptus, and aniseed come forward, as the raw smoky intensity builds which bring smoked bacon, and savoury meat to the fore. The finish is long, leaving the mouth with a salty touch, and hints of cocoa and fudge. More from Ardbeg Perfect Serve An intruiging whisky, we recommend this either neat or with just a splash of water which awakens the smoky notes even further

Ardbeg An OA Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl

Ardbeg An OA Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl

Ardbeg An OA Single Malt Scotch Whisky The Ardbeg distillery is located on the south side of the Isle of Islay, in the small settlement of Ardbeg from which it takes its name. It has been producing whisky since 1798, but only began commercial production in 1815. Having changed ownership over the years, it is now owned by the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) group. The distillery themselves state "Ardbeg Ten Years Old is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all". Interesting Fact: The brand name Ardbeg is an anglicisation of 'An Àird Bheag' which is Scottic Gaelic, and means 'The Small Promontory'. The inspiration for Ardbeg An OA comes from the Mull of Oa. Gepgraphically, the Distillery is sheltered from the harshest excesses of the mighty Atlantic by the Mull of Oa. This is a rounded peninsula in the south of Islay.  It got its name from the use of the distillery's newly-established Gathering Vat. Within this vat, Ardbeg gather whiskies from several different cask types. These include sweet Pedro Ximenez; spicy Virgin charred oak; and intense ex-bourbon casks (as well as others). Within the vat these blend perfectly, resulting in a whisky with smoky power, mellowed by a delectable, smooth sweetness. The result is a whisky with a light gold colour. On the nose this is sweet and creamy, with butterscotch, tobacco, fennel and boiled sweets all coming through. Citrus is present, but more subtle.  The hallmark Ardbeg peat is definitely here, in the flavour - but slightly more mellow (still definitely a peaty whisky though). Dark chocolate and aniseed are wrapped in smooth, silky butterscotch, black pepper and clove, before rising to an intense crescendo of flavour The finish is lingering and seductive. Whilst it has an intensity, somehow this remains gentle, with flavours of aniseed, hickory and distant subtle smoke. More from Ardbeg Perfect Serve We liked this with a simple drop of water to it, served at room temperature, However, as with all whisky, enjoy it how you like!

Ardbeg 10 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl

Ardbeg 10 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl

Ardbeg 10 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky The Ardbeg distillery is located on the south side of the Isle of Islay, in the small settlement of Ardbeg from which it takes its name. Their Ten Years Old edition is the flagship whisky of their range, and is matured in ex-bourbon casks. Whilst this is definitely a peated whisky, it does not flaunt the peatiness. The peatiness is perfectly balanced with the natural sweetness of the malt. This results in a whisky which has a light gold colour, and an intense aroma. Smoky fruit, peat and lemon & lime are all wrapped in a background of dark chcoloate. Menthol, and hints of black pepper also come through. The flavour ensures there is no doubt that this is a peated whisky! The peat blends with tangy lemon and lime, spicy black pepper, and cinnamon spiced toffee. The mid palate brings forth ripe bananas and dried fruits, as the smokiness builds on the palate. This leads to notes of creamy cappuccino and liquorice root. The finish is exceptionally long, and the smoke doesn't hide. It brings our espresso, anissed, toasted almonds and traces of soft barley and fresh pear. More from Ardbeg Perfect Serve As with all whisky, drink however you like it. We tried this with a light splash of water, and really enjoyed how this opened up the aromas.

Due to this, differing flavours are captured and bottled - darker notes and flavours, which fill the senses. This is an ominous dram of aromatic pungency..... "Heavy Vapours will rise". The nose brings intense, pungent and aromatic aromas. Smoky, sweet, with almost farmyard scents, and hints of creosote. A splash of water unlocks dark chocolate cream and more smoke. On the palate there comes a burst of bittersweetness, along with cardamom, peppermint and coffee. Dark chocolate and eucalyptus tantalise the taste buds, which overly the fruity floral notes common at the heart of Ardbeg. Aniseed and cinnamon float delicately across the tongue. The finish remains bold, staying strongly in the palate. More from Ardbeg Perfect Serve Truly unique, we recommend this either neat or with just a splash of water which awakens the heavy vapours
