The original design dates back to the pre-war period when Italian Attilo Calimani developed the basic principle. Bodum founder Jørgen Bodum started working on his version of the coffee press in the 1970s, but it was the acquisition of Melior-Martin in 1991- a company that produced a dome-shaped French press- that led to the development of the classic Chambord we know and love today. The coffee press system is an environmentally friendly brewing method and demonstrates Bodum's fundamental belief that we should "make taste, not waste". Main features & benefits Iconic press coffee maker that brings out all the flavor and aroma of your brew. The carafe is made of stain-free heat-resistant borosilicate glass that does not alter or impair the natural flavor of the coffee. The body and lid are made of durable stainless steel that has undergone several chrome plating processes resulting in a durable, shiny surface that will withstand years of use. The handle is made of polypropylene with a matte finish that provides a comfortable grip when serving and adds a classic quality to the design. The stainless steel plunger prevents ground beans from coming out when the coffee is poured More environmentally friendly than many coffee brewing methods- no paper filter or plastic caps needed Easy to use and easy to clean. Use & care The French press system is the easiest way to brew rich, flavorful coffee. Place the Chambord on a flat surface, hold the handle firmly and pull the plunger up and out of the carafe. Place the flask unit on top of the jug and turn the lid so that the pour spout is closed to maintain the heat. Let brew for four minutes and then slowly lower the flask. Twist the lid to open the pour spout and pour your delicious cup of coffee.
