The Innsmouth Case is an adventure game in the form of a paragraph game , the authors of which were inspired by the works of the famous HP Lovecraft. The production was developed by the independent studio Robot Pumpkin Games, while its release was handled by Assemble Entertainment; the portfolio of the latter includes, among others, the warmly received Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry . Story The Innsmouth Case takes us on a journey to the contemporary version of the title Innsmouth, a fictional town known from HP Lovecraft's stories (headed by The Phantom of Innsmouth ). The story told here is an interesting mixture of horror and specific humor. When little Tabitha Marsh mysteriously goes missing , only the best of the best detectives can solve the mystery. Unfortunately, however, the master in his trade is busy with other matters. So finding the girl fell to the main character. Gameplay In The Innsmouth Case, the gameplay takes place entirely on the cards of a virtual book (so-called gamebook). During the game, we read descriptions of places and situations in which the protagonist is, as well as records of conversations with the residents of Innsmouth. Besides, we often make various decisions . The choices we make not only affect the further course of the adventure, or affect how the protagonist is perceived by other people, but also determine which variant of the final (out of twenty-seven) we will see.

Tina, along with the huge but clumsy SAM-53 robot protecting her, lives off the rubbish and scrap metal left by other residents. A girl's life takes an unexpected turn after an unexpected discovery. Tina's father has left her on an important mission: to complete a plan that will save the world. So the heroine and her mechanical guardian set off on a journey that will lead her through strange places full of equally bizarre robots and people. Unlike many cyberpunk productions, Encodya approaches the subject with a pinch of salt. The game draws clear inspiration from Monkey Island and the works of Ghibli studio, thus giving up the nihilism and cynicism typical of this setting for a lighter but moving story. The Chaosmonger Studio team did not try to reinvent the wheel when designing the gameplay. Encodya is a textbook example of a point-and-click adventure game: the fun comes down to talking to more than 30 NPCs and searching over 100 available locations for useful items. The latter can be combined in the inventory to obtain a new object and "use" on the environment or NPCs. Some of the things that we can interact with have no practical use, but they reveal interesting information about the game world or are an excuse for a joke. Encodya also includes two interesting solutions. Just like in the Sam & Max series, there are two characters in the game: Tina and SAM-53. From time to time, players come across a task that only one of them can do, such as talking to a character who doesn't like humans or robots.
