The unit is usually located in an exterior wall to provide new air to the room. The Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon Heat Save uses a reversible fan to extract dirty air from the room and replace it with outside air 70 seconds later. This air passes through a filter to ensure that clean air enters the room. These systems work best in pairs as when one unit is extracting, the other can be supplying air to provide a balanced ventilation system. They are controlled by a SENWZP Sentinel wired zone controller which can operate up to 8 units in synchronization. This provides a single room or whole house balanced ventilation system with heat recovery. As well as filtering the air, the Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon Heat Save uses a thermal accumulator to extract warmth from the outgoing air and uses it to temper the incoming air to avoid the feeling of cold drafts and recover heat that would otherwise be lost to the outside. Typical Installation The Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon Heat Save can be fitted in a 180mm diameter hole. Maximum wall thickness is 460mm or 745mm with optional wall tube (see accessories). Gypsum blocks or plasterboard walls will not suffice for this purpose. If you plan to fix the unit to a stud wall, certain specifications must be met. Firstly, it's essential to have a piece of MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) that is at least 25mm thick firmly attached behind the unit. This MDF backing provides the necessary support for secure mounting. Ideally, the MDF panel should run from the floor to the ceiling, ensuring stability and robustness. However, it is acceptable for the MDF panel to have a minimum height of 2 meters, as long as it offers a solid backing for the unit. The Vent-Angel unit can also control mains powered fire dampers, Purge fans or other devices The Vent -Angel is simple to install and comes complete with a discrete wall mounted control panel to test and reset the system. Why Use a Vent-Angel If a fire breaks out there is a possibility that any system that supplies fresh air could further cause the fire to intensify and spread. If even a small fire breaks out the smoke will enter the ventilation unit’s ductwork that could be very costly to remove any contaminants and smell. Control Panel The Vent-Angel includes a Test / Rest switch plate which would be mounted remotely in a location that has easy access (i.e. Hallway, Utility room), the switch plate also has LED operational indication. i.e. the Test push button with be illuminated Green under normal running conditions and the Reset push button will be illuminated Red in the event of a fault. The Test / Reset switch plate will also allow the system to be tested by pushing the TEST button. (It is recommended that this test is carried out twice yearly), to Reset the system press the RESET button, this action is also required if the system has been activated.
