Million Dollar Arm - J. B. Bernstein - Bog - Gallery Books - Plusbog.dk

From the farmlands of India to the fields of major league baseball, this fascinating memoir tells the story of a man who forever changed the lives of two talented young men through a pitching contest in India. The official tie-in book to Disney’s major motion picture, starring Jon Hamm. A TRUE STORY OF FINDING THE AMERICAN DREAM . . . ABROAD India is a country with more than one billion people, a fanatical national cricket obsession, and exactly zero talent scouts. There, superstar sports agent J. B. Bernstein knew that he could find the Yao Ming of baseball— someone with a strong arm and enough raw talent to pitch in the major leagues. Almost no one in India is familiar with the game, but Bernstein had heard enough coaches swear that if you gave them a guy who throws a hundred miles an hour, they could teach him how to pitch. So in 2007, Bernstein flew to Mumbai with a radar gun and a plan to find his diamond in the rough. His idea was The Million Dollar Arm , a reality television competition with a huge cash prize and a chance to become the first native of India to sign a contract with an American major-league team. The result is a humorous and inspiring story about three guys transformed: Bernstein, the consummate bachelor and shrewd businessman, and Dinesh and Rinku, the two young men from small farming villages whom he brought home to California. Million Dollar Arm is a timeless reflection on baseball and the American dream, as well as a tale of victory over incredible odds. But, above all, it’s about the limitless possibilities inside every one of us.

The Fleet Air Arm and the War in Europe, 1939 1945 - David Hobbs - Bog - Pen & Sword Books Ltd - Plusbog.dk

For the first time, this book tells the story of how naval air operations evolved into a vital element of the Royal Navy''s ability to fight a three-dimensional war against both the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe. An integral part of RN, the Fleet Air Arm was not a large organization, with only 406 pilots and 232 front-line aircraft available for operations in September 1939. Nevertheless, its impact far outweigh its numbers; it was an RN fighter that shot down the first enemy aircraft of the war, and an RN pilot was the first British fighter "ace" with 5 or more kills. The Fleet Air Arm''s rollcall of achievements in northern waters went on to include the Norwegian Campaign, the crippling of Bismarck, the gallant sortie against Scharnhorst and Gneisenau as they passed through the Channel, air attacks on enemy E-boats in the narrow seas, air cover for the Russian convoys, air attacks that disabled Tirpitz, and strikes and minelaying operations against German shipping in the Norwegian littoral that continued until May 1945. By the end of the war in Europe the FAA had grown to 3243 pilots and 1336 aircraft. This book sets all these varied actions within their proper naval context and both technical and tactical aspects are explained with ''thumb-nail'' descriptions of aircraft, their weapons and avionics. Cross reference with the Fleet Air Arm Roll of Honour has been made for the first time to put names to those aircrew killed in action wherever possible as a mark of respect for their determination against enemy forces on, above and below the sea surface which often outnumbered them. The Fleet Air Arm and the War in Europe completes David Hobbs''s much-praised six-volume series chronicling the operational history of British naval aviation from the earliest days to the present.

Provides readers with a solid foundation in Arm assembly internals and reverse-engineering fundamentals as the basis for analyzing and securing billions of Arm devices Finding and mitigating security vulnerabilities in Arm devices is the next critical internet security frontier—Arm processors are already in use by more than 90% of all mobile devices, billions of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and a growing number of current laptops from companies including Microsoft, Lenovo, and Apple. Written by a leading expert on Arm security, Blue Fox: Arm Assembly Internals and Reverse Engineering introduces readers to modern Armv8-A instruction sets and the process of reverse-engineering Arm binaries for security research and defensive purposes. Divided into two sections, the book first provides an overview of the ELF file format and OS internals, followed by Arm architecture fundamentals, and a deep-dive into the A32 and A64 instruction sets. Section Two delves into the process of reverse-engineering itself: setting up an Arm environment, an introduction to static and dynamic analysis tools, and the process of extracting and emulating firmware for analysis. The last chapter provides the reader a glimpse into macOS malware analysis of binaries compiled for the Arm-based M1 SoC. Throughout the book, the reader is given an extensive understanding of Arm instructions and control-flow patterns essential for reverse engineering software compiled for the Arm architecture. Providing an in-depth introduction into reverse-engineering for engineers and security researchers alike, this book: Offers an introduction to the Arm architecture, covering both AArch32 and AArch64 instruction set states, as well as ELF file format internalsPresents in-depth information on Arm assembly internals for reverse engineers analyzing malware and auditing software for security vulnerabilities, as well as for developers seeking detailed knowledge of the Arm assembly languageCovers the A32/T32 and A64 instruction sets supported by the Armv8-A architecture with a detailed overview of the most common instructions and control flow patternsIntroduces known reverse engineering tools used for static and dynamic binary analysis Describes the process of disassembling and debugging Arm binaries on Linux, and using common disassembly and debugging tools Blue Fox: Arm Assembly Internals and Reverse Engineering is a vital resource for security researchers and reverse engineers who analyze software applications for Arm-based devices at the assembly level.
