Sporvognene stod for hovedparten af den offentlige trafik i København mellem 1863-1972 og var indbegrebet af den særlige københavner-stemning med jovialitet, nærgåenhed og friske bemærkninger. Det var et pålideligt, stabilt og velfungerende transportsystem, som desværre blev nedlagt af kortsynede politikere i løbet af 1960’erne.Bogen tager os med på en nostalgisk rejse til dengang, hvor ’Den skeløjede’, ’Dukke-Lise’, ’Svenskeren’, ’Slyngelvognen’ og ’Altankassen’ kørte rundt i byens gader med københavnerne. Sporvognene var med deres kulørte linieskilte og lanterner synlige på lang afstand, og da sporvognene beholdt deres rute gennem 50-60 år, udviklede der sig nære bånd mellem befolkningen og ’den lokale linie’. Også i Århus og Odense var der sporveje, og også her levede og åndede man med sporvognene – om end i mindre målestok.

The question of affect is central to critical theory, psychology, politics, and the entire range of the humanities; but no discipline, including psychoanalysis, has offered a theory of affect that would be rich enough to account for the delicacy and power, the evanescence and durability, the bodily rootedness and the cultural variability of human emotion. Silvan Tomkins (1911–1991) was one of the most radical and imaginative psychologists of the twentieth century. In Affect, Imagery, Consciousness , a four-volume work published over the last thirty years of his life, Tomkins developed an ambitious theory of affect steeped in cybernetics and systems theory as well as in psychoanalysis, ethology, and neuroscience. The implications of his conceptually daring and phenomenologically suggestive theory are only now—in the context of postmodernism—beginning to be understood. With Shame and Its Sisters , editors Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick and Adam Frank make available for the first time an engaging and accessible selection of Tomkins’s work. Featuring intensive examination of several key affects, particularly shame and anger, this volume contains many of Tomkins’s most haunting, diagnostically incisive, and theoretically challenging discussions. An introductory essay by the editors places Tomkins’s work in the context of postwar information technologies and will prompt a reexamination of some of the underlying assumptions of recent critical work in cultural studies and other areas of the humanities. December 1994. Efter flere dages illegal rejse op igennem Europa er den 17-årige bosniske musiknørd Miki nået frem til Københavns Hovedbanegård. Der er en blodig krig i hans hjemland; han har stjålet fra sine forældre og er flygtet fra en ussel flygtningelejr i Kroatien, hvor familien delte værelse med tre andre. Miki er på vej mod sit drømmeland, Sverige, og sin savnede storebror Neno – men i København går det galt: En civilklædt politimand, et råd fra en menneskesmugler og en sær dansk asyllovgivning tvinger Miki til at blive i landet for en tid. Han bliver indlogeret på et værelse med fire fjerne slægtninge i et asylcenter på Fyn, mens hans storebror ikke melder tilbage på Mikis Sverigesplaner. Tiden går med at slentre rundt i den lille provinsby, se pornofilm med drengene fra lejren og faste under Ramadanen. Men outsideren Miki har dårlig samvittighed og kræver mere af livet end en køjeseng. Mens den barske danske vinter trækker ud, og konflikterne i asylcenteret spidser til, indser Miki, at xenofobi og dårlig musiksmag ingen nationalitet har, og at det flade, forblæste Danmark bliver mere end blot en mellemstation på hans rejse. Han forelsker sig i den danske pige Belinda og tager et lyssky arbejde som avisbud hos den storrygende Uffe, der har glemt at fortælle ham om de fremmedartede parcelhuskvarterer på ruten. En dag cykler han forbi en plakat for Roskilde Festivalen 1995. Bevæbnet med et enmandstelt fra Silvan forlader han lejren uden at ane, hvilket drama der venter ham. "Enmandstelt" er en tragikomisk immigrantfortælling om at begå fatale fejltagelser og havne et helt forkert sted i sit liv, om at forholde sig til en kompleks familiehistorie og en ny syret virkelighed – og at finde hjem.

Ved et af bordene kan vi se, at et ungt par allerede er nået frem til desserten. Det er crème brûlée à la vanille. Fra vores bord ved restaurantens store, åbne vindue har vi en smuk udsigt over havnepromenaden, hvor mennesker i alle aldre slentrer frem og tilbage. Ude i havnen er lystbådenes blå lanterner blevet tændt. Solen er ved at sænke sig over Marseille. Oppe i det kuperede terræn bag havnen er husene ved at få et gyldent skær. Helt oppe på klippen med Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde står Jomfru Maria med sit milde blik og ser ind over den sydfranske metropol i aftensolen. Om forfatteren JØRN ØRNSTRUP er cand.phil. og medlem af Danske Rejsejournalister. På sine rejser har han gennem årene skrevet kultur- og rejseartikler for bl.a. Jyllands-Posten, Sjællandske Medier og Dagbladenes Bureau .
