This trilingual volume focuses on acts of transgressive acting/writing in selected texts of European literatures whose authors differ in gender, nationality and time frame. Thus, the contributions collected here consider a double questioning: of difference and transgression of norms. Both concepts are set in relation to each other in order to be able to embed any transition in cultural-social-historical contexts. The analyses and interpretations of selected texts from German, French, Polish, Russian and ancient literature, presented in chronological order, show exemplary acts of transgression in different cultures and under changing time circumstances and document aesthetic attempts to revise the existing order and create a new one.

Spatial Practices - - Bog - V&R unipress GmbH - Plusbog.dk

Spatial Practices - - Bog - V&R unipress GmbH - Plusbog.dk

In recent decades, the conceptualisation of space and place as social constructs, rather than static settings has received significant attention and has been re-evaluated with an emphasis on the cultural, social, and political practice. This shift moves away from regarding space as fixed, unchanging container towards a realisation that space is always inextricably linked with social practice and cultural signification. Thus, the study of spatial practices interrogates human action in different spaces, human agency in the production of space, and space in its capacity to prompt human action. By focusing on human action in manipulating and subverting space, and thereby creating multiple coexisting and overlapping spatialities, the interest also shifts from semiotic correlations in cultural expressions to events, practices, material and medial embodiment of culture. This collection of essays approaches the study of space and place from a historically inclusive perspective; it gives new insights into historical shifts and changes in the construction and perception of space as well as historical developments and diachonicity of literary, social, and architectural sites and places. It aims to gather a number of case studies in order to collect historically concrete evidence of such spatial practices as reflected in literature and art as well as in sources pertaining to the social and political life of premodern, early modern, and modern era. European Mobility - - Bog - V&R unipress GmbH - Plusbog.dk

The series will document the far-reaching changes that have taken place both in migration behavior and in research. Migration is a global phenomenon with lasting consequences for target countries in Europe and North America. Interaction between locals and migrants creates new forms of cultural expression - métissage, mixté, hybridity. Migration, whether voluntary, forced by economic, ecological, social or political conditions or refugee migration / displacement, requires functioning, survival, living in diverse cultural spaces (ie: not international or transnational but transcultural). The target companies also change, both processes influence each other. Exchange processes are examined. Sub-state regional socialization processes, family economies and migration traditions as well as new options influence migration decisions of men, women and sometimes. children; Supra-state economic regions and economic sectors set the framework for destinations. Migrants move in numerous cultural environments at the same time: location, social network of the starting region, economic sector, whether local or global, and future-oriented in the locations of further migrations. Nation-states of the old type only play a border-pulling role, states of the new type offer a policy of admission and integration that is oriented towards overall social objectives. Classic paradigms of migration research, such as migration from a nation state to the corresponding ethno-national enclave of an immigration country, had to be revised. Gender issues (eg: The role of men in displacement, the role of women in securing survival and building networks after migration processes) require special attention. This series publishes studies on migration and acculturation in their diverse, ethnic, diasporic, but above all transcultural manifestations, in German and English with abstracts in the other language.

Studies on Negation - - Bog - V&R unipress GmbH - Plusbog.dk

Studies on Negation - - Bog - V&R unipress GmbH - Plusbog.dk

Negation is a universal feature of human language that is inherently logical in nature, presents typologically diverse manifestations, and plays a fundamental role in the mapping between syntactic structure and semantic interpretation. The aim of this volume is to complement the vast body of research literature by offering a set of cutting-edge studies on negation. All the contributions are related to recent questions bearing on the syntax and semantics of negative elements and the variation in their form, and follow the central assumption that a proper understanding of the multifaceted expression of negation is central to our understanding of the grammar as a whole. With this in mind, different approaches and a variety of empirical and analytic details have been included in this volume.
