Clinical Low Field Strength Magnetic Resonance Imaging - Hans Martin Klein - Bog - Springer International Publishing AG - Plusbog.dk

This book covers all aspects of low field MRI, describing its advantages, problems and prerequisites. Individual chapters are devoted to site planning, safety considerations, coils, imaging technique, image quality optimization, the imaging of different anatomic regions and likely future developments. The factors that must be borne in mind when selecting a low field system are clearly identified and detailed attention is paid to the applications for which such a system is adequate. The focus on high field systems has led to a situation where only a few systems with field strengths lower than 0.5 T survive. Some of these systems possess high field features such as multichannel coils and strong gradients; furthermore, sequence technology and image processing techniques taken from higher field strength systems have resulted in impressive imaging capabilities. While 1.5-T systems will probably continue to remain the standard, low field systems offer advantages such as the feasibility of dynamic joint examinations, improvement of T1 contrast, reduction of “missile effects” and decreased radiofrequency exposure. Low field strength MRI consequently has the potential to contribute to optimal patient management and given comparable image quality, its application may become an issue of patient safety. This book will be an invaluable asset to all who are involved in planning and/or running a low field strength MRI facility.

Real-Time Road Profile Identification and Monitoring - Hong Wang - Bog - Springer International Publishing AG - Plusbog.dk

Real-Time Road Profile Identification and Monitoring - Hong Wang - Bog - Springer International Publishing AG - Plusbog.dk

Ever stringent vehicle safety legislation and consumer expectations inspire the improvement of vehicle dynamic performance, which result in a rising number of control strategies for vehicle dynamics that rely on driving conditions. Road profiles, as the primary excitation source of vehicle systems, play a critical role in vehicle dynamics and also in public transportation. Knowledge of precise road conditions can thus be of great assistance for vehicle companies and government departments to develop proper dynamic control algorithms, and to fix roads in a timely manner and at the minimum cost, respectively. As a result, developing easy-to-use and accurate road estimation methods are of great importance in terms of reducing the cost related to vehicles and road maintenance as well as improving passenger comfort and handling capacity. A few books have already been published on road profile modeling and the influence of road unevenness on vehicle response. However, there is still room to discuss road assessment methods based on vehicle response and how road conditions can be used to improve vehicle dynamics. In this book, we use several generalized vehicle models to demonstrate the concepts, methods, and applications of vehicle response-based road estimation algorithms. In addition, necessary tools, algorithms, and methods are illustrated, and the benefits of the road estimation algorithms are evaluated. Furthermore, several case studies of controllable suspension systems to improve vehicle vertical dynamics are presented.

Model-Driven Development of Akoma Ntoso Application Profiles - Amelie Flatt - Bog - Springer International Publishing AG - Plusbog.dk

Model-Driven Development of Akoma Ntoso Application Profiles - Amelie Flatt - Bog - Springer International Publishing AG - Plusbog.dk

This book presents a model-driven approach for creating a national application profile of the international legislative document standard Akoma Ntoso (AKN). AKN is an XML-based document standard that serves as the basis for modern machine-readable and fully digital legislative and judicial processes. The described model-driven development approach ensures consistent and error-proof application of AKN concepts and types, even when using different software tools. It allows for easy maintenance, is self-documenting, and facilitates stakeholder validation with nontechnical legal experts. The resulting application profile remains fully compliant to and compatible with AKN. For the sake of illustration, the approach is paradigmatically applied to the German federal legislative process, as a corresponding approach was used in the creation of the German AKN application profile, LegalDocML.de. We discuss how the methodology yields a model, schema definition and specification that correspond to the artefacts created by LegalDocML.de, using examples from Germany. The book is of interest to both legal and technical project teams on the cusp of introducing AKN in a legislative domain and intended as a practical guideline for teams preparing to create a custom application profile for their own domain. Furthermore, it can serve as both a resource and an inspiration for similar and yet to be developed methodologies in the public sector, the health sector or in defense, where international standardization and interoperability efforts are to be applied to a local level.

Advances in Multi-Channel Resource Allocation - Ness B. Shroff - Bog - Springer International Publishing AG - Plusbog.dk

The last decade has seen an unprecedented growth in the demand for wireless services. These services are fueled by applications that often require not only high data rates, but also very low latency to function as desired. However, as wireless networks grow and support increasingly large numbers of users, these control algorithms must also incur only low complexity in order to be implemented in practice. Therefore, there is a pressing need to develop wireless control algorithms that can achieve both high throughput and low delay, but with low-complexity operations. While these three performance metrics, i.e., throughput, delay, and complexity, are widely acknowledged as being among the most important for modern wireless networks, existing approaches often have had to sacrifice a subset of them in order to optimize the others, leading to wireless resource allocation algorithms that either suffer poor performance or are difficult to implement. In contrast, the recent results presented inthis book demonstrate that, by cleverly taking advantage of multiple physical or virtual channels, one can develop new low-complexity algorithms that attain both provably high throughput and provably low delay. The book covers both the intra-cell and network-wide settings. In each case, after the pitfalls of existing approaches are examined, new systematic methodologies are provided to develop algorithms that perform provably well in all three dimensions.
