Southern Gothic Drama / 3m, 3f / Exterior The Bean family in Sugar Bean, Florida live under an ancient family curse. The surviving members of the town's founding family have reached the end of their rope. Just when things can't possibly get any worse, tragedy strikes as a mysterious and brutal murder takes place in the Bean family home. The crime places "Moses" and "Sisser" in grave danger as "Annabelle", the last in a long-line of so-called "Sugar Witches", attempts to end the curse placed on their heads by the dying words of her very own grandmother. Dark family secrets are revealed and unusual passions are ignited as the family confronts madness, truth and the destructive legacy of racism as the spirits of the dead walk the dark swamp, haunting the hearts of all who reside there. The Sugar Witch is a dark, Southern Gothic play that will linger in the minds of the audience long after the curtain falls. Sex Please We're Sixty - Michael Parker - Bog - Samuel French Inc - Plusbog.dk

2m, 4f / Farce Mrs. Stancliffe's Rose Cottage Bed & Breakfast has been successful for many years. Her Guests (nearly all women) return year after year. Her next door neighbor, the elderly, silver-tongued, Bud "Bud the Stud" Davis believes they come to spend time with him in romantic liaisons. The prim and proper Mrs. Stancliffe steadfastly denies this, but really doesn't do anything to prevent it. She reluctantly accepts the fact that "Bud the Stud" is, in fact, good for business. Her other neighbor and would-be suitor Henry Mitchell is a retired chemist who has developed a blue pill called "Venusia," after Venus the goddess of love, to increase the libido of menopausal women. The pill has not been tested. Add to the guest list three older women: Victoria Ambrose, a romance novelist whose personal life seems to be lacking in romance; Hillary Hudson a friend of Henry's who has agreed to test the Venusia: and Charmaine Beauregard, a "Southern Belle" whose libido does not need to be increased! Bud gets his hands on some of the Venusia pills and the fun begins, as attempts to entertain all three women! The women mix up Bud's Viagra pills with the Venusia, and we soon discover that it has a strange effect on men: it gives them all the symptoms of menopausal women, complete with hot flashes, mood swings, weeping and irritability! When the mayham settles down, all the women find their lives moving in new and surprising directions.

Wrong Window - Jane Milmore - Bog - Samuel French Inc - Plusbog.dk

Wrong Window - Jane Milmore - Bog - Samuel French Inc - Plusbog.dk

Comedy/Thriller / 5m, 3f / Interior Van Zandt & Milmore pay tribute to Master of Horror Alfred Hitchcock, with this comedy whodunit. Off-and-on New York couple Marnie and Jeff enter an even more complicated phase of their relationship when they think they spy their cross-courtyard neighbor do away with his wife. After they draw their torn curtain, the lady vanishes, and suspicion places murder beyond a shadow of a doubt. The bumbling witnesses sneak into their neighbor's apartment - 39 steps away - and the fun begins. Among multiple door-slammings, body-snatchings, and a frantic flashlight chase scene, two questions remain: Who killed Lila Larswald? And...if she's not dead...then who is? The crazy farce plays out on a shadow-box set that allows the audience to be present in one apartment, while viewing the action in its mirror-image neighboring unit across the way. "Take the money and run to this window before it closes!" Two River Times. "If you're a fan of Rear Window on screen, you'll award Wrong Window on stage a perfect 10. A barrage of gag-filled dialogue. Knee-slappingly funny from start to finish! Take the money and run to this window before it closes!"-Philip Dorian, Two River Times "Fever-pitched one liners, puns, slapstick, pratfalls...There are probably no people in America more adept at conveying these classic comic styles than Van Zandt & Milmore, with their wacky anything for a laugh adventuring and willingness to toss all actorly dignity out the window!" -Tom Chesek, Asbury Park Press

The Kids Left. the Dog Died. Now What? - Carole Caplan Lonner - Bog - Samuel French Inc - Plusbog.dk

Musical Comedy / Characters: 2m, 2f As introduced on NBC's "Today Show", The Kids Left. The Dog Died. Now What? is a musical comedy that salutes those valiantly struggling with divorce on their hands, gravity on their bodies, grandchildren on their self-images and the dating scene on their egos. The risks and uncertainties of being alive come alive through song and scene. Aging gracefully is the final frontier! This entertaining musical about those facing a host of midlife crisis first premiered at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2007. Boasting a four-person cast, the show takes a humorous and heartfelt look at the day-to-day concerns of the over-fifty "empty-nester" crowd including everything from retirement and AARP, dating to divorce, plastic surgery and grandparenting. "Sometimes it is fun to just go to a theater and be entertained without having to worry whether you got the deeper meaning or the highly symbolic intentions of the author. Carole Caplan-Lonner's production entitled The Kids Left. The Dog Died. Now What? is just plain fun. Its target audience is clear and those of us who are empty nesters know exactly what she is talking about...Kids takes a look at several humorous topics that confront the"baby boomer" generation. The song "Who Says Progress is Good" sets the tone for this fun look at growing old. It is a clever perspective of the hazards of modern technology for those of us who struggle to program our VCR or understand all the complexities of our cell phone." -Stage Door Magazine, Philadelphia

1m, 3f / Dramatic Comedy Willi is the trailer trash housewife of the title, not necessarily of her own volition. Her abusive husband won't let her get a job, one of her children is dead, and the other is verboten by her husband because he's gay. When she finds out, Willi decides to get a job at the local Wal-Mart (a first step on the way to liberating herself from him). Her husband will have none of it, and quoting the bible about how a wife is supposed to obey her husband, threatens all three women with a gun, and then beats Willi to within an inch of her life. A blues singer weaves songs into the action, commenting upon Willi's predicament and urging her toward decisive action.
