Hidden Hazards of Online Advertising - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Hidden Hazards of Online Advertising - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

In this book, the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee examine issues of consumer privacy and security on the Internet and in the broader online economy. Central to this segment of the economy is the online advertising industry, which continues to grow in importance. In 2013, U.S. online advertising revenue for the first time surpassed that of broadcast television advertising as companies spent nearly $43 billion to reach consumers. The online advertising ecosystem is highly complex. Online advertisers do far more than merely disseminate text, graphic, or video advertisements. Underlying the work of online advertisers are sophisticated systems that are able to identify and target specific consumer groups with relevant advertising, as well as state-of-the art security practices to monitor the integrity of these ad delivery systems. The ability to target advertising is a key function of online ad delivery systems, and advertisers are willing to pay a premium of between 60 and 200 percent for these services. With the continuing boom in mobile devices, the importance, and complexity, of digital advertising is likely to continue increasing in years to come. The Subcommittee''s investigation focused on the features and vulnerabilities in the online advertising industry that invite malware attacks. The Subcommittee also sought to highlight the potential hazards to private consumer information which result from consumer visits to even mainstream websites. The Subcommittee surveyed Internet participants and interviewed representatives from major ad networks, ad exchanges, data brokers, self-regulatory bodies, the Federal Trade Commission, consumer protection groups, and other participants in the online advertising industry to identify the vulnerabilities that have led to significant hazards to consumer safety and loss of consumer privacy online.

Becoming an Innovative Teacher Educator - Quiyun Lin - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Hybrid learning, an emerging, innovative method that integrates online technology into traditional classrooms, has the potential to provide pedagogical richness, increase active learning, foster collaboration, and support learner-centred strategies. However, many teacher educators who are used to teaching in traditional classrooms find it difficult to move beyond their comfort zone. To provide them with the much-needed directions, this book offers clear guidance on several important aspects of designing a hybrid course, including its theoretical foundations, learning environment, implementation procedures and assessment. In addition, changing roles and responsibilities of instructors and students in hybrid courses are discussed, and strategies to create online community are highlighted. This book offers not only the possibility of recapturing the traditional values of teacher education, but a careful analysis of what educators could expect from "hybrid learning". It covers the research, but also draws on the experiences of practitioners to address what may appear to be daunting challenges. The primary audience for this book is faculty in teacher education who are struggling to find the time and means to engage their students in meaningful learning activities. A wider audience, however, will find elements of pertinent, important, and timely information on hybrid learning. Certainly, faculty in all disciplines in higher education who are trying to integrate the Internet and communications technology into their courses will also find the book of considerable value. This book can be used by practitioners as a professional guide, or by researchers as a reference.

Understanding Creativity - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

This book explores the symbiotic relationship between culture and creativity, particularly exploring how resources and cultural values within a society can foster or hinder creativity. Next, this compilation proposes a new method for measuring product creativity with verification of its metric characteristics. This approach entails the construction of a creativity coefficient and a uniqueness coefficient, which are based on the assessment of the originality of the answers provided by respondents. The connection between objective indicators of creativity and its representation on the level of self-consciousness is also discussed by way of a new questionnaire for implicit theories of creativity that diagnoses four scales: originality, intelligence and personal potential, novelty and activity. The authors propose and demonstrate how a student must perceive that the ability to self-correct any discrepancies between actual and desired performance is possible and achievable in order to exhibit a positive response to feedback. "Zones of in-between" are defined as organisational, social and physical spaces at school that have the potential to allow for something else than their ostensible purposes in teaching and teacher-pupil relations. Different types of presence, interactions and expressions occur when pupils have a pause from teaching and interact with other pupils. This kind of creativity is formed by and takes place in sociocultural margins and peripheries. The final paper is a qualitative narrative examination of undergraduate students' experiences in a fully online learning community, describing how a community of 90 students divided into three sections of 30 participated in a blended course for 12 weeks which used flipped classroom video podcasts, online discussion boards, and weekly synchronous Adobe Connect conferencing.

Adolescent Dating Violence - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

This book summarises the latest discussion about challenges in adolescent dating violence (DV) and digital dating abuse (DDA), emphasising the influence of digital tools and seeking to identify similarities and differences between online and offline types of abuse. The first introductory chapter presents an overview of outcomes and future challenges of dating abuse in adolescents, focusing on the recent studies and examining prevalence, risk and protective factors and consequences of DV. Chapter two addresses a research involving quantitative and qualitative complementary studies with participants involved in same-sex relationships, aiming to give a more complete portrait of another aspect involved in the dating violence problem. The third chapter discusses the psychological traits of the adolescents perpetrating dating violence in order to identify the problematic characteristics that are related to the abuse and provide the most accurate intervention in terms of prevention. Chapter four introduces the problematic use of digital tools, explaining how they can foster abuse in the context of dating relationships, focusing on the prevalence and impacts of this emergent important phenomenon. Chapter five discusses sexting, an emerging phenomenon in dating relationships, associated with new psychosocial and digital risks. This new form of online sexual violence may increase the vulnerability of adolescent at a crucial stage in their sexual-affective development. Accordingly, the practices of sexting and its meaning in the dating relationship are characterized. Cyberbullying is another abusive typology that has been related to DDA, which is given special focus and attention in chapter six. Finally, the last chapter intends to review evidence-based DDA intervention and prevention, considering the different variables related to them, specifically the sociodemographic, risk and protective factors.
