Clock Synchronization & Navigation in the Vicinity of the Earth - Thomas B Bahder - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Clock Synchronization & Navigation in the Vicinity of the Earth - Thomas B Bahder - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Clock synchronisation is the backbone of applications such as high-accuracy satellite navigation, geolocation, space-based interferometry, and cryptographic communication systems. The high accuracy of synchronisation needed over satellite-to-ground and satellite-to-satellite distances requires the use of general relativistic concepts. The role of geometrical optics and antenna phase centre approximations are discussed in high accuracy work. The clock synchronisation problem is explored from a general relativistic point of view, with emphasis on the local measurement process and the use of the tetrad formalism as the correct model of relativistic measurements. The treatment makes use of J. L. Synge''s world function of space-time as a basic co-ordinate independent geometric concept. A metric is used for space-time in the vicinity of the Earth, where co-ordinate time is proper time on the geoid. The problem of satellite clock syntonisation is analysed by numerically integrating the geodesic equations of motion for low-Earth orbit (LEO), geosynchronous orbit (GEO), and highly elliptical orbit (HEO) satellites. Proper time minus co-ordinate time is computed for satellites in these orbital regimes. The frequency shift as a function of time is computed for a signal observed on the Earth''s geoid from a LEO, GEO, and HEO satellite. Finally, the problem of geolocation in curved space-time is briefly explored using the world function formalism.

Flight Control of Unmanned Rotorcrafts for Enhanced Situational Awareness - Igor Astrov - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Flight Control of Unmanned Rotorcrafts for Enhanced Situational Awareness - Igor Astrov - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

The need for highly reliable and stable manoeuvres for unmanned rotorcrafts (URs) class of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs) has increased morbidly for critical situations in real-time search-and-rescue operations for fast situational awareness (SA). A rotorcraft is a heavier-than-air flying machine that obtains its lift from rotors. SA is simply being aware of what is going on around you. This book provides basic approaches for the modelling and simulation of control systems on the basis of equations of motion for various types of models of rotorcrafts (miniature helicopter, intermediate helicopter, coaxial rotor/ducted fan mini-UAV, trirotor mini-UAV, vectored thrust mini-UAV, quadrotor mini-UAV, X4-flyer mini-UAV, eight-rotor mini-UAV) with emphasis on the modeling and simulation of realistic dynamics for fast SA. The effectiveness of the proposed research technique has been verified in field of flight simulation tests for chosen control models of the URs using software package Simulink. From the simulation results it can be seen that the UR models demonstrated an advantage in achieving good maneuverability in controlled flight during missions and good performance for fast stabilisation of engines during manoeuvres, consequently, fast SA with economy in energy of batteries can be asserted during missions, and the duration of missions can be longer. The principal audiences for this book are faculty members, practitioners, researchers, and graduate and postgraduate students.

Quality of Parallel & Distributed Programs & Systems - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Quality of Parallel & Distributed Programs & Systems - - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

The field of parallel computing dates back to the mid-fifties, where research labs started the development of so-called supercomputers with the aim to significantly increase the performance, mainly the number of (floating point) operations a machine is able to perform per unit of time. Since then, significant advances in hardware and software technology have brought the field to a point where the long-time challenge of tera-flop computing was reached in 1998. While increases in performance are still a driving factor in parallel and distributed processing, there are many other challenges to be addressed in the field. Enabled by growth of the Internet, the majority of desktop computers nowadays can be seen as part of a huge distributed system, the World Wide Web. Advances in wireless networks extend the scope to a variety of mobile devices (including notebooks, PDAs, or mobile phones). Information is therefore distributed by nature, users require immediate access to information sources, to computing power, and to communication facilities. While performance in the sense defined above is still an important criterion in such kind of systems, other issues, including correctness, reliability, security, ease of use, ubiquitous access, intelligent services, etc. must be considered already in the development process itself. This extended notion of performance covering all those aspects is called "quality of parallel and distributed programs and systems". In order to examine and guarantee quality of parallel and distributed programs and systems special models, metrics and tools are necessary. The six papers selected for this volume tackle various aspects of these problems.

Productive Forces of Design - Vladimir Aleksandrovich Strokov - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

Productive Forces of Design - Vladimir Aleksandrovich Strokov - Bog - Nova Science Publishers Inc - Plusbog.dk

A new economy is being considered, in which economic activity of society and a set of relations are taking shape not only at the stages of production, distribution, exchange and consumption, but also at the design stage, forming the basis of post-industrial development. The goals of post-industrial development have been formulated: design and production of complex high-tech varieties of types of products satisfying the strategic needs of the country (being the country's wealth). There are functional and parametric varieties. Functional varieties differ in the number of consumer functions (properties), for example, the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket launches the vehicle, returns to the launch site and lands on the platform. Parametric varieties have different parameters of the same consumer functions, for example, the varieties of aircraft "Airbus" A380 and A381 differ in the number of seats (180 and 236) and flight range (6100 km and 5900 km). Varieties may have a program management by satisfaction of needs, replacing a person, for example, the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket has this program management. For the first time in the world practice, the decisive role of the productive forces of computer-aided design in fulfilling the goals of post-industrial development has been shown. The productive forces of computer design: the aggregate of designers (constructors, analysts, technologists) and computer means of design are capable of a) designing digital models of intermediate (parts, units, assemblies) and final products, b) analysing and modelling structures, c) carrying out technological preparation of production, d) designing composite materials with the required parameters of consumer functions. Computerization of design leads to an instantaneous exchange of information and replacement of tons of design documentation with a single flash disk and creates the possibility of designing varieties of products with program management (without human participation) of satisfaction of the needs (age-old dream of humanity). The use of composites provides the possibility of designing varieties of items being intellectual property carriers, which meet the required parameters. The principles of the organization of the computer-aided design process (universalization, parallelism, optimization, innovations, and continuity) have been introduced and substantiated. The productive forces of computer-aided design changed the productive forces of the production of the K. Marx's model: universal machines replaced specialised machines; software control of the machine, developed by a technologist, caused the replacement of the worker. The organization of the production process of intermediate and simple products in time has been developed. Universalisation, innovations, optimization of design and production lead to the international division of mental labour and production capital of individual countries and regions into the design of stages and varieties and the production of varieties of intermediate products, carriers of intellectual labour property with the required consumer functions and their parameters. Universalisation, innovations, optimisation of design and production lead to the international per-stage and per-object division of the designer's mental labour and per-object division of the productive capital of individual countries and regions. The result is the design and production of varieties of intermediate products, carriers of intellectual labour property, having the required consumer functions and parameters. International cooperation of design organisations and enterprises of individual countries and regions based on the principles of parallelism and continuity leads to the formation of families of international design and production. The families are able to produce parametric and functional-parametric varieties of types of final products, carriers of intellectual labour property, satisfying functional and parametric requirements. The competition between families determines the development of the world industry. For example, the competition between the families of "The Boeing Company" and "Airbus SE" determines the development of civil aviation in the world. The production costs have been determined. A mechanism has been developed for the development of the productive forces of design and production through the renewal of intellectual property in the design process and the accumulation of capital in the production process.
