Honey Comb Kelim
"The Honey Comb Kilim presents a successful interplay of the colors beige, gray and black. The design, made up of irregular diamonds, is reminiscent of honeycombs and is enhanced by light lines that surround each honeycomb. The Honey Comb Kilim is a contemporary kilim that has its origins in Afghanistan. Like all our kilims, the Honey Comb Kilim is woven by hand in a 100% natural and traditional way. When sourcing the raw material, we attach great importance to environmental friendliness and maintain this focus throughout the entire manufacturing process. One of the special features of the kilim is its double face (double weave). When weaving a kilim, we speak of the so-called warp and weft threads, with the weft thread ensuring that the design of the carpet is visible on both sides. The history of the kilim can be traced back many centuries and makes antique finds in particular attractive collector's items. The weaving tradition of the kilim can be traced back to old nomadic tribes who used the woven fabric as a blanket, wall hanging or even as a floor covering. In the past, the motifs usually came from the immediate surroundings of the tribes and so animals, plants or images inspired by nature were often depicted. In addition, emotions were also often communicated via the kilim motifs. In most cases, the origin of a kilim can be clearly determined based on the weave and the motifs. The designs and motifs passed down through generations are the decisive factor in the provenance of a piece. For kilims, an anti-slip mat is an indispensable and urgently needed addition. In particular, to avoid the risk of slipping and to guarantee unrestricted suitability for everyday use."
