Engineers Precision Data Pocket Reference - Steve Heather - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

The CNC Handbook - Hans Bernhard Kief - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

The CNC Handbook - Hans Bernhard Kief - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Digital manufacturing is everywhere. Technology advances in production engineering have reduced the “artisan skill” traditionally required in manufacturing processes and replaced it with high-precision, computer-controlled machinery. This reduces human errors and variability in output, but it does not reduce the knowledge required of the professional engineer or shop floor worker. In fact, the reverse is true. They still need to understand the fundamentals, and must acquire other important skills. Anyone who works in machining or additive manufacturing technology must have a solid technical knowledge of CNC technology. It is important to know how the individual components work and how they affect the overall system, the quality of the products produced and the profitability of production. Professionals should be familiar with today''s machine tools and the numerous functions of CNC, electrical servo drives, tool systems, NC programming through to digital information processing and automation. The CNC Handbook was a critically acclaimed bestseller in Germany for 30 editions, and is now available in English for the first time. This groundbreaking work introduces readers to the CNC world, and teaches practical details about how different components are applied in practice. Next, the authors explain the functions and connections of all integrated components, and clearly describe CNC and drives, tooling, flexible manufacturing systems (FMS), NC-programming, DNC, digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and computer integrated manufacturing (CIM). The book then covers industrial robots, additive manufacturing, energy-efficient manufacturing, simulation systems, and state-of-the-art of machine integrated measuring systems. This authoritative, heavily illustrated book is the perfect resource for the avid CNCer, but also for those who plan and program, set up, operate machinery, or are responsible for operation, maintenance and repair. Features - Packed with more than 800 figures, 4-color pictures, and product shots. - Authors use their more than 150 combined years of industrial and academic experience to impart CNC knowledge.

The Metal Stamping Process - Jim Szumera - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Choosing & Using the Right Metal Shop Lathe - Richard Rex - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Choosing & Using the Right Metal Shop Lathe - Richard Rex - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Investing in a new metalworking lathe is a big step for any shop (especially home shops), where there’s usually no one around to help. Once the lathe is up and running, you should theoretically be able to make the special items you previously did without (or paid through the nose for), such as shafts, plain, tapered or threaded discs, bearings, and so on. But if you are new to this, you’ll want to know a lot more than you can learn from the salesman or the manual. Does the lathe really match your needs, and if so, how much? Choosing & Using the Right Metal Shop Lathe is an essential source of information for lathe buyers and users at every level, from mini-size tabletops up to industrial machines weighing half a ton or more. It answers the question of what else you will need to get useful work from the machine. For instance, what comes as “standard equipment” with the lathe? Most include a chuck (usually a 4-jaw independent, not the self-centering 3-jaw you’ll want to use most of the time), maybe a faceplate (rarely used), and a 4-way toolholder you will probably swap right away for a more sensible design. Never included is a tailstock drill chuck, an essential accessory you will need from day one—and the same goes for actual cutting tools. Almost certainly, there won’t be a digital readout (DRO), which used to be regarded as a “maybe-someday” luxury—but not anymore. The work talks about cutting oils, cutting speeds and easier-to-machine materials, and it cautions against buying sets of anything, vs. buying the one accessory you’ll truly need. Finally, there are chapters on building a tailstock drill press, a special toolpost for easy screw cutting, and a precision grinder for lathe tools that can be made from oddments of material in a couple of days or less. Features - Differentiates between the truly essential features (screw-cutting) and the nice-to-have (power feeding), spindle speed selection from a gearbox (typical) or continuously variable (more convenient). - Offers advice on screw-cutting US and metric threads, and handling the machinist’s most trouble-prone actions, such as knurling and parting off. - Provides a workpiece tutorial that demonstrates many of the commonplace lathe routines—ideal for first-time users.

Why Industrial Bearings Fail - Kirshna Murty - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Why Industrial Bearings Fail - Kirshna Murty - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

A bearing is a common machine element used to constrain motion and reduce friction between moving parts. Bearings are used extensively in global industries, including automotive, construction, power generation, mechanical, chemical, mining, infrastructure, medical, food, etc. The estimated bearing market was valued at $128 billion in 2021, and expected to increase to nearly $227 billion by 2028. Unfortunately, sometimes bearings fail, and often at the most inopportune time. This is a source of great concern and expense to users, causing downtime and the loss of millions in damages, outages, and lack of productivity. While modern precision manufacturing and maintenance practices have reduced some of the premature failure, they haven’t addressed many of the core problems that lead to bearing failure. This work presents a collection of different case studies in a multitude of industries where bearings have failed, and includes a failure description, observations, possible reasons for the failure, plausible cause and effect, and then discusses what might have been done to mitigate the problem and, when possible, provides solutions to prevent further failures . The author uses root cause failure analysis and explores such topics as alignment, lubrication, manufacturing defects, mounting practices, contamination, and fatigue. He then explains how one or a combination of these issues worked together to cause the failure, and offers preventive solutions to avoid future problems. Features Throughout the book, a classical RCFA approach is used for each case study, using a nine-step analysis with solutions: 1) Define the problem 1) Get information and input from various sources 1) Locate the evidence 1) Look for the mistakes 1) Ishikawa / Fishbone Diagram 1) Getting to the roots 1) Solutions 1) Create plans to implement the solution 1) Monitor the solution and confirm if it works

Grasshopper: Visual Scripting for Rhinoceros 3D - David Bachman - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

Grasshopper: Visual Scripting for Rhinoceros 3D - David Bachman - Bog - Industrial Press Inc.,U.S. - Plusbog.dk

We live in a three-dimensional world. To design objects for everyday living, users must learn how to create in three dimensions. For precise modern designs that must conform to specific tolerances, we use computers to create a digital model first, and then pass that model on to a machine, such as a CNC router or 3D printer for fabrication. There are many software packages that are used to create digital models. One such package that is popular for industrial, product, and graphic design and architecture is Rhinoceros 3D , or “Rhino.” Grasshopper is a visual scripting platform for Rhino. With it, the user can build precise, customizable Rhino objects by simply dragging boxes around the screen and connecting them with virtual “wires.” No knowledge of programming is necessary! This work provides an introduction to modeling objects with Grasshopper. Through a series of examples and tutorials, readers will learn how to build complex objects by combining simple components. Applications include both NURBS surface modeling and mesh manipulation techniques. In Part I, Bachman offers a brief overview of scripting with Grasshopper, with simple examples used to introduce the reader to the most common Grasshopper components. In Part II, more complicated Grasshopper scripts are presented, showcasing the variety of objects readers can create. These examples were carefully chosen so that readers can see how the concepts from Part I can be put together to create increasingly complex designs. Finally, Part III features a reference guide from Grasshopper’s own help files containing descriptions of some of the most common Grasshopper components. David Bachman is a Professor of Mathematics at Pitzer College (Claremont, CA). His is the author of two previous works, Advanced Calculus Demystified, published by McGraw-Hill, and A Geometric Approach to Differential Forms, published by Birkhäuser, as well as more than 20 research articles. Through his company, David Bachman Design, Inc., he regularly consults with an international clientele of artists and product designers. In addition, Bachman’s own designs have been shown in a variety of galleries across the US. ● Part I: Learning Grasshopper—Chapter 1: Getting Started; Chapter 2: Lists; Chapter 3: Adding More Interactivity; Chapter 4: Curves and Surfaces; Chapter 5: Surface Transformations; Chapter 6: Advanced List Manipulation; Chapter 7: Meshes ● Part II: Case Studies—Chapter 8: Seashells; Chapter 9: A Striped Torus; Chapter 10: A Randomly Faceted Cylinder; Chapter 11: Creating Custom Bevels ● Part III: Component Reference: Params Tab; Maths Tab; Sets Tab; Vector Tab; Curve Tab; Surface Tab; Mesh Tab; Intersect Tab; Transform Tab; Display Tab.
