Trio für Horn, Posaune and Tuba : für Horn, Posaune and Tuba

This single movement is divided into several passages which differ in mood and build-up depending on the relation of the players and instruments to each other. First the trombone and the tuba accompany the melody performed on the horn, then all three instruments play a chordal-homophonic texture of identical rhythm.

Five Little Pieces for four Trumpets

The composer is an outstanding authority on brass instruments. In this work too he makes attractive and colourful use of the many sorts of character the trumpet possesses. The opening Fanfare is followed by a lyrical piece, Boating, and then a Dance, in Bulgarian rhythm. In Folk song chorale István Bogár has worked up two Hungarian folk songs. Finally, the series ends with a cheerful, playful piece, Chasing.

Quatrequatuors (21) : for Chamber Ensemble

In his QuatreQuatuors Péter TORNYAI has further developed the twelvenote theme from Ferenc Liszt's Faust Symphony. The piece received 1st Prize in the Chamber Ensemble Category of the New Hungarian Music Forum 2011 competition for composers. Its title refers to the instrumentation and to its temporal form: four quartets of different make-up (and 'joint' or independent percussionist) perform the four movements, played without a break but clearly distinct in their musical material.

Ungarische Variationen - Hungarian Variations : für Violine und Klavier - for Violin and Piano

The five pieces that make up this publication each convey a different character. They can all be played in first position, and they help to improve both performance skills and bowing technique. As the title suggests, the basis of these variations is fundamentally rooted in the style of Hungarian folk music. Owing to the creativity of the composer, these wonderful little pieces embody all of the essential qualities from the world of Hungarian folk music.

The editor of the new series introduced under the title "Opera Hits" has come up with a new idea: from operas an orchestra - in this case, a junior or non-professional string orchestra - should have a chance to play not only the overture or the orchestral interludes, but also the vocal numbers (arias, duets, etc.). The popular, well-known opera excerpts transcribed by András Soós should serve as attractive additions to the repertoire and be successful programme items for such ensembles.

The Golden Key - Der goldene Schlüssel : Sixteen little piano pieces - Sechzehn Klavierstücke für Anfänger

The Hungarian composer and piano teacher wrote a number of highly popular educational and performace pieces for children. In this work the well-known composer presents the events of a story by the brothers Grimm in the form of very easy piano pieces. This unusual, incomplete story has inspired an unusual musical work: the young players can make up titles for the last eight pieces, and they are also encouraged to note down their thoughts and feelings inspired by the music, or express them in drawings, in the score.

6 Sonatas for violoncello & piano/two violoncellos

English organist and composer James Hook (1746-1827) composed sonatas for cello in an elegant style which were first printed in 1783. Up until that time - to our knowledge - modern printing was not so easily accessible. These easy to intermediate-level sonatas can serve as suitable preparation for Boccherini pieces, and their elegant style and musical value make them appealing both for pupils and music lovers alike. The simple accompaniment was originally intended by the composer to be for another cello as an alternative, Árpád Pejtsik also created a piano accompaniment allowing these pieces to be used for concert performance.

Volksmusik fuer Hirtenfloete

This collection of melodies offers a selection of the most attractive recorder tunes from the folk music of the Carpathian Basin, and also provides some insight into Romanian recorder music. Performances by folk musicians on the 6-hole folk recorder have been preserved on sound recordings and noted down by scholars. On this basis the editor has made practical transcriptions, in simplified notation. Material of this nature has up till now been unavailable to students and performing artists using modern wind instruments. This collection of unusual, nobly simple melodies and complex, virtuoso pieces is equally suitable for teaching purposes and for enlarging the repertoire ofinstrumental artists.

Englische Suiten BWV 806-811 : BWV 806-811

The name 'English Suites' did not originate with Bach, and up to now its origin could not be clarified. In his Bach biography Forkel mentions that the composer wrote the suites to fulfil an English commission. It is a much more likely assumption, however, that Bach derived inspiration for his suites from studying certain English models. A stylistic relationship, and indeed, certain thematic identities can be pointed out between the English Suites and the suites of the French composer, Dieupart, who lived in London. The piano suites of Handel, published in 1720, shortly before the origin of the English Suites, could also have served as antecedants.

Linos for harp : Solo

Greek mythology seems spontaneously to have offered the figure of linos as the central character in a work for solo harp. (Linos was a poet, believed to be the brother of Orpheus, and according to Greek tradition no greater musician ever appeared among mankind.) The musical material, conforming to the characteristics of the harp, consits of two interesting seven-degree note rows incorporating all the possible pedal combinations, their mirror inversions and the five-degree noterows that fit between them. The nine-section composition is made up of scenes from the imagined life of Linos, an imagined 'Linos's hymn', and laments played in his honour.

Albumblatt - öVarosligeti fasor 33.ö fuvolara es

Albumblatt - “Városligeti fasor 33” refers to the title of an unwritten piece that Dargay during his years at the Music Academy planned together with the composer Balázs Futó. The basic idea of the composition was that in the basement of the Béla Bartók college building at that address they would set up a tape-recorder and record the sounds filtering from the practice rooms, and making use of this recording they would write an electroacoustic piece. The work was never written: however, on the basis of memories and the experiences associated with the planning of the piece, a short composition did take shape… It had its premiere on September 26, 2006, performed by PéterFöldesi and Balázs Futó.
