Alder’s Blood is a turn-based strategy-tactical game with RPG elements in a dark atmosphere straight from the lovecraft horror. The independent studio Shockwork Games from Lublin is responsible for the production, for which it is a debut project. It was funded on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform. Before the premiere of the full version, the developers released a free prologue, thanks to which you can learn about the basic mechanics of the game.
Alder's Blood, which is inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft combines dark fantasy with a Victorian western. The action of the game takes place in a forgotten world, plunged into chaos after the death of God and gradually absorbed by ever more numerous forces of darkness. After murdering Him, a malevolent essence emerged from which monstrous creatures devouring people were born. That's when the hunters step in to save humanity from bloodthirsty creatures.
The gameplay in Alder's Blood is based on two pillars: managing a camp and a clan of hunters, and traveling around the map and hunting. In the first part, we have the character's equipment, we take care of resources, deal with crafting and trade, while in the second part - we explore the game world in search of the forces of darkness, trying to eliminate them. Without proper resource management and character toughness, the chances of survival decrease.
The hunt takes place in a team and is very demanding, but it is the main source of experience points. Prepare for each turn-based matchup; in Alder's Blood, it's very easy to die without a tactical approach. The key is sneaking and paying attention to the breeze or traps set by the enemy. In order to improve your chances of success, you also need to use the skills, spells, and weapons of the hunters appropriate to the situation.
During the adventure, in addition to the over 10-hour storyline, there are numerous side tasks waiting for players, which will last for up to 40 hours of gameplay.
