Curved Space is a twin-stick shooter which, although it draws handfuls from the classics of the genre, transfers the solutions characteristic of this type of games to a three-dimensional environment and enriches them with new elements. The production was developed by the independent team Only By Midnight, and its publisher was Maximum Games.
Story
In Curved Space we play the role of the pilot of a spacecraft known as the energy reaper. The protagonist is tasked with dealing with the invasion of galactic spiders. Although the story presented in the game is not particularly complicated, there is room here for the possibility of making decisions influencing further events in which the main character will take part. Adventure can lead him to asteroid surfaces, as well as to a space station, and finally to distant galaxies.
Gameplay
In Curved Space, the action is shown from the third person perspective (TPP). The game takes place in various arenas and consists in eliminating hordes of opponents. In addition to the "cannon fodder" in bulk, a number of much more powerful bosses await here to be sent to the sand. The standard equipment of the ship can be improved by acquiring various power-ups.
The title of the game (curved space) refers to the twisted surfaces of the arenas where we fight fierce battles with galactic spiders. Navigation in these seemingly complex environments is facilitated by the fact that their gravity attracts both our ship and the fired cartridges to the ground. Thanks to this, we can move vertically along the walls or conduct effective fire even when enemies are hiding from us, for example behind a hill.
