LYFA NINOTCHKA 195 Pendant Black
Design: Bent Karlby for LYFA, 1954 Concept: NINOTCHKA 195 Behind this beautiful and special pendant there is a funny story about how the design came to life. The inspiration for both the design and the name comes from a very specific film from 1939. The designer, Bent Karlby, was so fascinated by the shape of the hat that the Swedish Hollywood star, Greta Garbo wore in the film NINOTCHKA, that in 1954 he designed the NINOTCHKA the pendant, focusing on capturing the quirky asymmetrical shapes. The special shape provides a pleasant downward light, ideal for hanging over a dining table, or in the kitchen. The opening at the top also allows for a soft, more diffused upward light that helps to brighten the room. The design is still as elegant today as it was back in 1954, and with LYFA's minor update of the pendant, it is now available in three different sizes and colors. The iconic and timeless NINOTCHKA can therefore easily be adapted and decorated in the modern home.
