Praetorians is another production of the Spanish team Pyro Studios, known for the excellent series of tactical and strategic games Commandos. The game takes us back to the times of the Roman Empire, and its gameplay focuses primarily on the fight and the atmosphere of many war campaigns in the times of Caesar's Legions. We can choose from three sides of the conflict, Romans, Gauls or Egyptians, and test our skills in three great campaigns (one inside the Roman Empire, another in Central Europe, and finally in Egypt). In total, this gives over 20 extensive missions. Each side of the conflict is different. The Romans are primarily disciplined, well-armed units that use sophisticated combat formations and impressive war machines in combat. The Gauls are fearless warriors with very high mobility and high morale. Gameplay The basic elements of the game are proper management of the available military resources, tactics and the ability to use the possessed or acquired combat equipment. In each of the fights we have a limited number of units, which forces us to develop an appropriate strategy that guarantees the lowest possible losses. During battle, troops can be arranged into various formations, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Some types of troops may use special formations in combat against specific enemy units. Each unit has been realistically recreated including weapons and gear. We have about ten different types of troops at our disposal, such as archers, pikemen and praetorians. All types of units have different abilities and skills. Railway Empire is set in the territory of the United States, and the starting point is the beginning of 1830. Our task is to create a railway empire and eliminate the competition from the market. The game takes place over a long period of time, allowing us to play in the 20th century as well. Railway Empire is a classically realized economic strategy, so all the fun revolves around developing the company and business management, with the appropriate balancing of revenues and expenses. Our responsibilities include constructing tracks, buying and improving trains, and organizing the transport of people and goods. Investments are also needed in train stations, repair buildings, factories and even tourist attractions for passengers. The game features over forty types of trains, and while playing, we use over three hundred different technologies, divided into five historical periods. With the development of the technological level of American society, the conditions on the market are changing, forcing adaptation to new elements of business reality. The gameplay is diversified by competition controlled by artificial intelligence. The game allows you to play with up to three other companies, although less experienced players can only set one or two rivals for themselves. The fight for a position on the market is not limited to purely business games. It is also possible to sabotage the activities of other enterprises with the help of bandits and spies. The production in question is a continuation of Kult: Heretic Kingdoms - a title created by 3D People studio in 2004 (although it debuted in many parts of the world, including Poland, in 2005). Over the years, the brand has passed into the hands of new owners, so Games Farm studio and the German publisher bitComposer Games are responsible for the creation of Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms. Story The events told in Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms take place a few years after those we witnessed in the original, released a decade earlier. Nevertheless, the sequel tells a completely new story, not directly related to the previous game. The titular Heretic Kingdoms plunge into chaos, and the only chance to save them from being swallowed by darkness is to use the power and potential of the souls of the greatest heroes who walked on the earth years ago.Therefore, the only being able to save the world and at the same time the main character of the production is a demon known as the Devourer. His special abilities consist in being able to wander between two dimensions - the real and the shadow world - and devouring the souls of dead beings in order to take control of them. Gameplay Such conceptual assumptions give us the illusion of leading the team - although the protagonist is one, at a given moment we can control the demon in its pure form or take the form of one of three selected creatures from among the pool of those that are in the power of the Devourer. Thus, we do not see four characters on the screen at once - each soul shares a body with a demon, so changing the guided hero (which can occur at any time) simply means turning into someone else. Each captureable soul represents a hero with unique traits and skills, who develops independently of the rest of the "party". The speed of gaining experience points depends on how much time we spend in a given body. There is a large pool of souls waiting for the player, from which you can form a "accompanying" protagonist at a given moment - the demon can share the body with the souls of both good and righteous heroes, as well as rogues or even monsters.
