Black Mesa is an original, independent modification of Carlos Montero and the Black Mesa Modification Team, consisting of over 40 people, which is a refreshed version of Half-Life by Valve Software from 1998. Story Black Mesa recreates the events of Half-Life. The player takes on the role of Gordon Freeman, doctor of theoretical physics, an employee of the secret research complex Black Mesa. After a tragic experiment, he has to face hordes of aliens who came to the facility from the world of Xen, as well as the US military, trying to eliminate the threat and cover up all evidence of illegal activities, eliminating the survivors of the crash. Gameplay The gameplay mechanics are based on the original from 1998. Again, the player is dealing with an FPS shooter, which puts a lot of emphasis on the story. While playing, he explores new locations and eliminates the opponents he meets. In addition to fighting a wide range of enemies, the title also requires solving simple logical puzzles. All enemy models known from the original have been implemented in Black Mesa, but changes have been made to their artificial intelligence. Also available weapons are similar to those known from Half-Life. The player can therefore use conventional, experimental weapons (based on alien technology) and the iconic crowbar.
