Far Cry 3 ist ein Ego-Shooter. Wir verbringen also die meiste Zeit damit, Feinde mit allen verfügbaren Methoden zu eliminieren. Was dieses Spiel von den meisten konkurrierenden Ego-Shootern unterscheidet, ist die Handlungsfreiheit. Die Level sind normalerweise offen und ermöglichen es den Spielern, ihre eigene Taktik zu wählen. Es ist möglich, Feinde lautlos zu töten, aber auch im Rambo-Stil zu spielen, indem wir mit einem Schrei auf den Lippen und einem Gewehr in den Händen ins Zentrum des Feindlagers stürzen. Eine Ergänzung zur Solokampagne ist der Mehrspielermodus, für den Ubisoft Massive, ein schwedisches Studio, das für großartige Echtzeitstrategiespiele bekannt ist (z. B. Ground Control, World in Conflict), verantwortlich ist. Der Produzent konzentrierte sich auf ein leicht verständliches Gameplay, Szenarien, die spezifische Ziele erfordern, und ein umfangreiches Entwicklungssystem. Um seine Lieben zu retten und diesem verfluchten Ort zu entkommen, muss Jason lernen, schnell zu töten. Rezeption Far Cry 3 für den PC erhielt sowohl von Kritikern als auch von Spielern nahezu einhellige Anerkennung. Die offene Welt des Spiels, die mit einer Menge Aktivitäten gefüllt ist, wurde als eine der Stärken des Spiels angesehen.
